The diagnosis is the same as
The diagnosis is the same as my husband's.My husband is getting radiation and chemo preoperation too.The chemo for him is 5-Fu for 6 weeks,24/5,he has the weekend off.The radation is 28 days, from Mon to Fri,only several minutes per day.My hubby is going to finish the peropetive treatment at the end of July, then we will go ahead to meet the surgeon.Hope my husband's case will give you a little reference.Good luck with your treatment.

    Well,my hubby has been
Well,my hubby has been tolerating the treatment not too bad,at least better than my imagination. But chemo kills blood cell counts, this week's blood test shows that my hubby is anemia, but the oncologist said he is underneath the normal range but not at the basement yet,so hopefully he can finish the treatment on time. From the radiation part,my hubby feels pretty painful when he has to pass stool since the radiation has burnt inside of his rectum,so the doctor said it's a common complain from most of the patients. The doctor prescribed him suppository to help with the inflammation a little bit.The side effects he has been having is just fatigue from time to time,I mean maybe today he feels great, maybe tomorrow he feels like crap.My hubby is also suffering a little diarrhea, but not too bad,he is following the dietian's suggestion,so the diarrhea is under control. So besides fatigue and under-control diarrhea,we haven't seen other side effects like losing hair, nausea, and so on.My hubby is going to finish the 4th week of the 6 tomorrow,so he only has two weeks to go,we will be both very happy when the preoperative treatment is done.

    Treatment
I had the radiation/chemo (pill) for 28 days. 5 days with weekends off. Had the surgery about six weeks after I finished radiation/chemo (you have to give your body time to heal a little) then waited another six weeks and am having "mop up" chemo now. There are a lot of different treatments depending on what stage you are and type. Good luck with the doctors and keep us posted.
