low blood counts
Hi Jean,
I did not lose my hair on gemzar, but did run fevers after so take tylenol or advil to combat that, I also had fatigue and was short of breath. It does knock you counts down so don't feel bad when you can't get it as scheduled. Hugs ♥ Prayers Bonnie0 -

Hi Bonnie: I have seen your picture on here many times and happy you responded to me. When I asked the doctor about losing my hair he said I would lose some. I really didn't know what that meant and I would like to have a wig ready but don't want to spend the money if I don't have to. Thanks for your additional info on fever etc.

Hi, Jean
I just finished chemo w/Gemzar alone, and I did not lose any hair. Some people get thinning (I have read this, don't know anyone personally who has).
Mostly my side effects were fatigue & nausea, which is unusual, as most ladies don't get the nausea... lucky me!
Good luck with your treatments. Oh, and like Bonnie mentioned, it will bring your blood counts down, and you may miss treatments. I missed 2 treatments total and also received
2 pints blood during the process.
Take care & God Bless~

Hi Susan: Thanks for responding. This is the 4th recurrence I have had. Diagnosed 10 yrs ago, cancer free for 7 1/2 yrs. Came back 3 times in the last 2 1/2 yrs. Had Taxol and Carbo. This will be my first time on Gemzar. Thanks for the info and hope I can keep in touch with you.
Hope you stay well.

gemzar
Jean,
Just had my first gemzar/cisplatin Monday and then Neulasta shot Tuesday and I can say that I have been somewhat wiped out Wednesday, Thursday and today!!
I do have nausea but no vomiting.
With both chemos I have no clue as to if I am going to lose my hair, but still have wig from last time on taxol/carbo.
In His Grip,
Libby0
