Be sure to take the anti nausea as directed and you can not drink too much water!!!! I start drinking ice water while on the infusion. You may not feel anything for the first 48-72 hours. Just keep the bowels moving and you'll do fine. Ask any questions as the occur. My suggestion if you are taking carbo/taxol is to start taking Vit. B-6 and L-glutamine bought over the counter to prevent numbness in feet and hands.
It worked for me. I had very little. (((Hugs and prayers))) Saundra

    Hi special lady,
You're welcome, we're glad to help you any way we can. Having been through chemo, I can understand that this is a very stressful time. Once it's started and you realize how it is killing the cancer you'll feel more confident.

Regarding the nausea and vomiting, different oncologists have different ways of approaching it. My oncologist gave me pre meds in an IV before the chemo drugs and had me take Zofran for 3 days and nights, that worked great for me.
As you can see from what Saundra discussed with you, doctor's are different.

Hopefully they gave you some pamphlets to look over before you start treatment on Wed. I found that very useful, it discussed all the side affects and how to handle them. If you didn't get any, ask for them.

Take some lunch with you, a sandwich, yogurt, fruit and a juice box and water bottle are good. And don't forget a book or the newspaper since you'll be there a while.
Remember to drink lots of water afterward and the day after to flush the chemo drugs out of your kidneys.

By the way, I have 2 indoor cats and the only thing suggested was that my husband strain and clean the litter box.
I was, however told to avoid crowds, shaking hands and kissing anyone except my hubby!

Good luck and if you think of anything else, before Wed. we'll be here.

    thinking of you
    Special,

We will be thinking of you.

Had my chemo yesterday. One of my premeds is benedryl (doesn't take much for me) and so I was mostly sleeping ZZZZZZZZZZZ through my chemo. And do take your nausea pills as directed. I took one last night after dinner and one this morning. I take before I feel sick!

Also, my face and neck get pretty flushed for the first two days after chemo. But we are all different. Remember we are each wonderously made!!

    In His Grip,
    Libby
