My CA after finishing Gemzar

Well, I got my CA done today. Mine is on a scale of "normal" being 3.5-17.0
Naturally I am still at 18.1 and my treatments are finished. I'm not scheduled
to see my Dr. until September, and I will wait until then to find out what he
suggests our next move be. I will certainly be asking about a possible PARP
research study; if I might qualify for one. (The treatment I just finished I
used Gemzar alone). My CA before beginning this chemo was 116.5
I will probably get another CA next month just to see what things are doing;
and if it skyrockets I'll call my Dr. If it hovers at 18, I'd feel good about
it; I think.
I guess 3rd set of chemos in 3 years wasn't the "charm". Bummer.

PARP inhibitor clinical trials that are now open
Susan,
If you want to see what clinical trials are open, look at www.cancer.gov Search under clinical trials, then ovarian cancer and then "PARP inhibitors". It looks like there are 4 clinical trials open right now for recurrent ovarian cancer. It might be a good idea to look at the inclusion and exclusion criteria to see which ones you might qualify for and plan for the future. In the meantime, enjoy your time off!

could be the charm
Dear Susan
I think to come down to 18 from 116 is great. It is not what was wanted but to have it work to bring it down is pretty amazing. I pray your next ca125 is even lower or it stays still at the least. I would say 3 chemos in 3 years and a ca125 is getting good results ~ not quite the results one prays for but still pretty amazing.
Hugs ♥ Prayers Bonnie0
