I made two decisions today
2. To not return to hormonal therapy
I hope I don't regret either.

I'm glad you are going to
I'm glad you are going to see your mom and hopefully you can keep your father at arms length but I was hoping you would try the hormonal therapy. The best of luck to you.

DMC... I'm so glad that you
DMC... I'm so glad that you have decided to go see your mother, and hope that your father behaves himself... enjoy your time with her. As far as your hormone therapy, all of us has to make the decision of what we are comfortable with, if that's the right decision for you, then that's what's right for you..
Hugs

Keep us posted, DMC. I am
Keep us posted, DMC. I am glad you are going to Tennessee. I am going to see my mom in August. (Moms always make us feel better!)
Are you on hormonal therapy now? Can you share with me how the withdrawal goes? After my surgery and rads, I am thinking of "fiddling" with the femara dosage as these hot flashes are killers!0 -

Sometimes we have to do what we have to do. Good luck and try to have a good time.
Hope you have a wonderful visit with your mother ... and if your father starts to act like a horse's a-- just take your mother ... get in the car and go for a ride ... away from your father. I'm sure you mother would like the break ... because he sounds like a grumpy old man ... and I'm sure your mother must have to put up with alot of his grumpiness when it's just the two of them. Poor thing.
You and your mom have a great visit ... and I can't wait to hear from you when you get back.
hugs.

I was on Femara until May 12th (when I joined the boards here). I quit because I had ALL the side effects, from the common to the rare. I didn't even think that was possible. Plus, I had extreme mood swings and depression to top it off.
I went in to discuss my choices with my onc, and I really had no other choices (I tried Arimidex, Arommisin, and I can't use Tomoxifin due to a blood clotting disorder). We discussed another drug Avista (I think that is the name), but it was not exactly designed for bc. It's purpose is to reduce the chance of bc for those who are high risk. I cannot take this one either, due to tendency of blood clots. Since I am feeling so much better without the Femara, my onc agreed that quality of life was what was important. It didn't change my prognosis that much, since I am a 3.5 year survivor (he told me that base survivorship come the time of surgery (Jan '06). Since there was little change in my prognosis, I decided that no therapy drug was my ticket.
The withdrawal was slow, but there were no effects from stopping it. I noticed a dramatic change after about one month of being off the drug.
Hope this helps. As far as "fiddling" goes, you might want to do the fiddling with dr oversight-just a thought.

for your kind words of support. Today, was actually a good day. I didn't get any insulting emails or upset phone calls from anyone! That was a first all week.
Yes, I plan to enjoy having time with my mom. I am actually pretty good at ingnoring people, though I have never tried to ignore my father. I will try very hard to respect him, as a daughter should, but that doesn't mean that I have to spend time with him. I don't plan to eat meals with my folks during the week, I will miss this time, but I don't think it will be a peaceful time. We will see how things go...maybe a miracle will happen. (?)
My husband, pup, and I will enjoy our pseudo-camping (staying in a cabin-not my idea of camping, but there are wild animals down there...BIG wild animals).
I'm leaving the week after next. I'll remind you all later.
Hugs to all of you,

Sounds like you have a pretty solid plan there. I'm happy for you. I understand your decision completely about the therapy. Glad you are done having to struggle with that. If I were going somewhere that I may encounter BIG wild animals, as much as I am an animal lover, I still wouldn't mind having 4 walls around me and them!! Sounds like you will still enjoy it.
