Delay on Rads due to BRCA Gene test!!!!
Who would have known? How lucky am I? I'll be taking more walks around the block!! Exercise is good for your health, right? Anyways.....
Turns out he wants to wait till my BRCA Gene test results come back (2 more weeks) to start rads because....if I were to be radiated now, and it turns out I was positive for the gene, then the residual radiation that will just hit the edge of my good breast can actually cause a 43% chance that I will develop a cancer in that breast because I have that gene. No one ever explained this to me! But he said there is not a lot of info out there about this, so he was ask to write an article for the medical board magazine. He said he just got done teaching this to other Radiologist at a convention in February where he was asked to speak. He said it would not be ethical for him to just proceed with the radiation till he knows the results. He could possibly cause me harm! If I am positive, he will not radiate me, instead recommends a double mastectomy because of my high risk. Gulp!!
We went ahead and did the simulation today and got the tattoos done anyway. This way as soon as we know the results, I could be ready to go. Wow, did not realize what a piece of art work my boobie could be!! I'm thinking picasso? Nope...looks more like Tic-Tac-Toe!! Not sure which of them won?
He also is calling my PCP to let him know which scans to get started so we can get my arm fixed (which is what brought me here in the first place) and he put me on some meds for the nureopathy in my arm. Unfortunatly, this is the arm that needs to go in the air and we had to make some adjustments. Oooowwwww....arm was not a happy body camper!!
But I survived 0:) Was anyone else told this that had BRCA Gene test + rads?

Definitely hoping for rads!!
Also, he told me that the radiated boobie will stay perky from here on out because the skin will not stretch. So he now refers to that boobie as the new boobie of 2009. However, in 2019 when I look in the mirror and see the fall of my other boobie, I may be quite disappointed. He thinks I should consider at least getting a breast lift for the other side to make me feel better. I'm really liking this dude!! I hope we get invited to go swimming in his gorgous inground pool at his stunning fortress he lives in. Ahhhh..... :0) Pammy0
