Request for treatment info from Phillieg & others, also about SIRT and radiation oncology

Phil - I know that you treat at the same facility as I do and hope that you might be willing to share some treatment info. Please feel free to email me privately if you prefer. I have recently been treated for a small met to the liver which disappeared from my most recent CT scan, so the focus has returned to my small lung mets. My oncologist counted 14 scattered mets, which is apparently too many for RFA. Zeloda has been added back to my cocktail and I may be referred to at least talk to a thoracic surgeon after this 8 week style. My question is whether you have ever been evaluated for surgery and why or why not. (I am not wild type KRAS and therefore no Erbitux)

If anyone has experience with SIRT or other radiation oncology for lung mets, preferable in NYC, but anywhere in the northeast, I would appreciate any information you are able to share. Thank you.

    Glad to hear the liver met went away, that's great news. I also had many lung mets I don't recall how many but I have 3 operations over 3 years to get rid of them. I did have a RFA one time. I had Dr Bernard Park. I liked him, I felt I was in good hands with him. With the first 2 operations, the mets were close to the edges of the lungs so they did wedgectomies(sp?) and that took care of those. The last lung operation he removed the lower portion of my lower right lobe. The lungs have been OK ever since. I do not recall exactly how many mets I had, I probably had about as many as you have. I have no experience with SIRT or radiation at all.

    Thank you Phil. I don't have more specific questions. I am just trying to get myself informed but may be anticipating problems that may not occur. I wanted RFA because I would not have to go off of chemo for it, in contrast to surgery. I also don't want to lose a lot of lung capacity but really won't know much about that until I actually talk with a surgeon. Thank you again for the information and I may ask for more when I am better informed. Thanks again.

    I'll be entering the FosD clinical trial in the middle of August. Supposedly good things are happening

    Fostamatamib D - John - Is this a phase II clinical trial? has there been some success in treating colon cancer with this drug? Do you know which facility or facilities are leading this trial? I hope is it helpful for you. Why the wait until August? Do you have to meet certain conditions to participate?
