Missed my last Gemzar Treatment

Well, my blood count was too low last week for chemo, so my final Gemzar
treatment was cancelled. And, they do not make up these Gemzar treatments
for some reason (anyone know?)
I'll get a CA done on July 13th. Meantime, my last CA was 1 off of being
"normal". I was able to get 1 chemo treatment in after that.
I don't have to go back to the Dr. for 3 months! :-D What a nice break
this will be (but so far I still haven't any energy to enjoy it).
Anyone know the recovery time from Gemzar?? It was Gemzar alone.
Happy 4th and God Bless All~

Gemzar
Hi Susan,
Sorry to hear your counts went to low. That happened to me on gemzar too and it does take your body a bit being off it to feel good again.
What a blessing to get a 3-month break and the energy will come back. So rest and walk both of these things help. :-)

Hi Susan,
I can't help you with the Gemzar recovery question, it will probably be my next chemo along with Avastin.
I can tell you that it took a very long time for my body to recover from carbo/taxol, and a little less time to recover from Topotecan, so I expect that it will take you a while to recover from Gemzar. Just baby yourself and eat healthy to help your body and blood system, to return to normal.
I was wondering, since you're having the CA on July 13th, how come your not due back for an oncologist's visit for 3 months? I guess if they're not happy with the CA results they'll make your visit much sooner, right?
It's wonderful that you are having a 3 month break, I know you'll wake up every morning so happy that you don't have to deal with the chemo, and the side affects. Enjoy every day!

Gemzar
Susan,
Glad you have a break! Still praying I am not recurring. But she said Gemzar will be next.
I seem to still be recovering from carbo/toxal and my last was in August.
After my appointment on Thursday, I will ask alot of questions here IF I have to have treatment again.
Praying for one more point for you.

Enjoy
I hope you enjoy your chemo break and recover rapidly. I see my oncologist this afternoon and get my latest CA125 but don't expect a decision on the chemo until next week when I see the gyn/onc and get his input. I have enjoyed the chemo break since last Sept. except for the diverticulitis diversion which was worse than chemo on my body.
Anyway we are happy that your CA 125 responded so well to Gemzar. That is truly a blessing.

My CA125
Hi, Jane,
I now have my lab fax me my blood results every time. Sad to say, the nurse in my Gyn/Onc
office is not very efficient; and I am always anxious to see my results. So I will receive
the results and see them before the office probably does! And if my CA is out of the "normal"
range, I will call for an earlier appointment with the Dr.
(I used to have them mail me the blood results, but that took too long! :-)
Take care,
~Susan xoxo0
