While I know so many are currently struggling finding a good oncology team and second opinions, some of us have already fought that gauntlet and reached nirvana. I'm one of the lucky ones with superb care.
While I was as the Liver Symposium in Chicago in May, one of the speakers called my Radiation Oncologist the 'guru' for external beam liver radiation, which I had just completed with him the month prior. Now he is receiving a VERY prestigious award for his work.
This man has worked with my medical oncologist and liver surgeon for 20+ yrs so communication with them is wonderful (they're friends and colleagues). He also gave me (at our second appointment) his home and cell numbers and his personal email because he was going out of the country for vacation and wanted to be sure I could reach him, not just his staff. LOVE HIM!!

Wow
That is wonderful news for your doctor. It has to make you feel so much more secure in the decisions that your team are making on your behalf. I believe when your team works together, you get much better results since they are all on the same page.

Great!
Congrats to your doctor, and to you for your positive, encouraging fight!
I, too, have a wonderful team. from my GI who diagnosed, to the radiation team, the oncology team, the surgical team, and most of all, my incredible team leader, the oncologist. If you are anywhere near Longmont, CO, I highly recommend Dr Mark Barnett at the Rocky Mountain Cancer Center. He has such compassion for his patients, and is very knowledgeable on new info and techniques as well.

My gastric surgeon is world known for his expertise in low bowel resections...lol...he had to schedule my surgery around his travels!!!! But, when my sister was diagnosed, her doc knew all about my doc...small world...
