Pammy,
I have never been to one(the one that my friend and I had signed up for got canceled),but I've heard that they are wonderful! Yes,I've heard that they give you great makeup, and when you register to take the class, they even ask you what your skin tone is so they can match you up with the right cosmetics!I think they also show you how to put on wigs(turbans,etc.).And you get to spend time with fellow bc survivors like yourself!0 -

I've never heard of this, what a great way to feel pampered and make youself feel special.
I'm gonna check in to this. I know theres a place here where I'm at that offeres all kinds of services to BC survivers, but I still haven't called them yet. Still in a little bit of denial I gurss since I haven't even had my surgury yet.
Getting really anxious though, I'm so glad it's a holiday weekend, so I might be able to keep my mind off of things til Monday. I did talk to the surgeons office and the imaging center today they said that I should be approved by Monday and then I can schedule my MRI and hopefully my surgery for the end of next week.
This waiting is killing me, it's already been 2 weeks, and thats how long it was supposed to take for approval, but this holiday is putting a glich in things.
Anyway.......... I guess I started rambling and ranting a little there........ sorry about that........ but thanks for the tip Pammy

Aurora, go to (lookgoodfeelbetter.org) which is the website. When you get there, in the bottom left hand corner you can enter your zip code and it will locate a workshop in your area. Mine were at local hospitals. The numbers on the website were outdated for the correct department in my hospital but I was able to find out who to speak with. I will participate in anything if it is free. Guess I don't have much of a social life! That's what you get when you work with all men!! (although, they were sweet enough to send me a card!) Good luck. Pammy
PS) the waiting is the hardest part. That's why I do all I can to stay occupied!!0 -
Thanks PammyAkiss4me said:How to find out

I was taught how to tie my scarves in new ways!
And, you are right, I got LOTS of free, big-named cosmetics. It was great fun, also, just to do something normal...
Go, have fun!!!!!
Hugs, Kathi
I went and it was awesome. I believe at some of them you can get or try on wigs as well and if I remember correctly at the place where I went they gave you one wig at no cost if you wanted one. No nail polish in my bag just awesome makeup from well known companies: Mary Kay, Maybelline, Este Lader and others.
Worth doing it. The person that teaches it is also a cancer survivor.

I have heard wonderful things about this, from the nurses at the chemo center....they said, DON"T MISS IT! I am going on July 13.....As said, they asked me what my complexion was....light, medium, etc......also asked me if I needed a wig.....I don't......already have one......good thing, too....my hair started falling out on Monday......EXACTLY 2 weeks after my first chemo....YOU can call the AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY's toll free number and they will tell you when and where the next class will be given...in my area, it's once a month....
I'll let everyone know after I go, how it went........
God Bless0 -
