Platlet counts

Hi all again: My husband just got his port out today which we consider another milestone. However, I have a question about platlet counts again. When he saw the oncologist on June 18, the count was 102,000. Today before they took the port out it was 78,000. He has no bleeding problems, and they didn't say anything about it. I'm just wondering do they flucuate like that for awhile after chemo and radiation are over. His last chemo was a low dose of carboplatin in March and he finished radiation on April 30; had his CT scan on 6/5 and it was fabulous. His last induction chemo was on Jan. 19. Just wondering if anybody out there is knowledgable about platet production. Thanks. Jan

Platlet Counts
Hi Again:
Just wanted to let everyone know that regarding the post I did yesterday about my husband's platet count when he got his port out yesterday. They had dropped since he saw the onocologist on the 6/18. Well, I talked to one of the nurses from his office and she said that was not unusual and they do flucuate even after treatment has been finished and he was well within the safe range even though it's a little below standard. I guess chemo and radiation are the gifts that keep on giving. We've set Sunday as our last day smoking (hopefully). We know we've got to quit. So say a prayer for us. Thanks.
