forgot how bad chemo sucks

Yeah, just got my pump off. It was 100 degrees today. I had a bunch of stuff to do. Now I feel like crap. I think I might be a bit dehydrated. Either way folfox sucks. I'll be glad when no one has to take this 5fu anymore.

    Yeah it sucks
    John (JR) Just had his 8th treatment of Folfox + avastin. He is all crapped out today. He is going to have to go off the Oxy I think. He has reacted to it the last two times. It has been like an allergic reaction. He is upset wanted to finish all twelve treatments with the OXY too. I don't think it is worth it to continue and die from the reaction. Hope you feel better soon. Paula G.

    I start my 4th treament this
    I start my 4th treament this coming Monday and I have not had any reactions to Oxy so far. Since I am new to this am wondering if this treatment get's worst as I go on. I want to go and finish my 12 and I think now that I will make it. I see so many bad reports about the Oxy I was wondering just how many people out there went all the way?

    don't worry about the oxaliplatin
    It is becoming apparent to Drs and patients that oxaliplatin has a cumulative effect in the body. It builds up and is retained for quite a while. I had a terrible reaction to it on the 5th treatment of my first cycle. I was taken off of it for my sixth treatment and wasn't pt back on it following surgery until I had a recurrence while on folfiri. I had 3 treatments before I was saturated again. There are at least half a dozen clinical trials, limiting, alternating, or eliminating oxaliplatin at some point during treatment. Keep in mind, that oxaliplatin doesn't actually fight cancer. It just helps the 5fu do its job. If you're saturated, you're good.

    New Clinical Trial - MD Anderson - ALPHA-LIPOIC ACID Pills
    My Onc started me on this clinical trial which MD Anderson has on their site. I started the pills today but do not know if they are placebo or the real thing. I have only had one chemo treatment.

    Thanks for the info on the oxalipatin. John is real bummed and wants to keep trying it. I told him that the first reaction was bad and I even sent a copy of his living will with him the last time. He reacted again but not as bad.I really can't believe they gave it to him again.Reactions to meds are nothing to mess with. I have had several. I have MS and have had some real bad reactions to some of the drugs. They build up over time too. I am going to pass this on to him and I think it will make him feel better.
    After the 12 treatments we are going to switch doctors. I really don't think this onc is very good. He has said some things that really make me mad. Like "with the drugs out today he may get five years but not ten." He also said that he thought he should go on disability to enjoy what time his has left. NOT A DOCTOR THAT I WANT TREATING HIM. I want a team that wants to help him live.
