Pet/Ct/ Scan Update + Radiation
My husband and I had planned a trip out West. Leaving on July 11th and going for about 4-5 weeks before school starts again. I don't know what to do, get the radiation now or wait until I come back. My Onc said don’t cancel my plans as of yet, to talk to the radiation Dr. Any input would be appreciated.

Terry: please pop into Uterine Cancer Board for radiation advice
Almost all of us with uterine cancer get radiation, and there are 60 women posting on the Uterine Cancer Board of this website. (Not all of them have UPSC which is the rare uterine cancer similar to ovarian, but at least 1/3 of them have UPSC.) You will get a broad overview of radiation on that Board if you just scan down the posts for ones specifically on radiation.
My surgeon originally sent me to the radiation oncologist, thinking that I should have radiation first. But the radiation oncologist felt that I could wait 4 months for my radiation, as he felt I needed to get all my chemo in first to ward off distant metastisis. So maybe you can take your vacation and THEN do your radiation, with no adverse affect. I took a 9-day vacation to Utah before my hysterectomy and have never regretted it one second. I'd take the advice of my oncologist.0 -
Hugs to you
Terry, I think that is overall good news. I would talk to the radiation Dr. and see what he says. I'm not postponing any trips that we've planned. You might shorten it if necessary. Seems to me you are due a vacation. Hope it works out that way for you. Can't help on the radiation as I haven't had that yet. Saundra0 -

Thanks Linda and Saundra!! My mind is made up I'm going to take this trip. The tumor only grew an 1/2 inch in 4 months, what will 4 or 5 more weeks do. I heard that radiation can be rough, especially with your bowels and bladder. If it was of great concern the Dr would have had me in this week. I don't see him until Tuesday.

Hi Terry, I cheer you on as you plan for trip and am sure a few more weeks are not going to make a whole lot of difference. I am interested in hearing more of the radiation process when you get home. Hugs N Prayers Bonnie0
