First of all ... thank you all for the good wishes earlier ... for me ... and Kim ... on our first day of radiation. I got tears in my eyes reading the posts ... and knowing that so many of you care. It was a warm-fuzzy feeling I guess I needed. Long distance hugs!

The treatment went just fine. I think I was side-tracked by the machine. It was HUGE! With parts coming out from the side and top ... things moving all over the place ...I was totally fascinated. Reminded me of something "alive" .. or like one of those big "transformer" creatures.

One thing I did find interesting that I haven't read about in any of the posts .. is ... a nutritionist came in to talk to me and she asked if I took vitamins. She specifically asked about vitamin C which I do take. She told me to stop. She said that it's OK to take a multi-vitamin with C in it ... because that's usually 100% or less of the daily recommended amount ... but I should NOT take extra C because that might lessen the effect of the radiation. I'd never heard that. But ... I'm going home and taking the C out of my daily pill boxes.

hugs.

    Teena! WTG!
Teena, so glad to hear that you did great on your first day of rads! WTG girl! I guess the machine would be scary if you had never seen it before. I, ofcourse, saw it with my first bout with bc, so, not much new except it was smaller actually. lol But, it should be after all of those years! lol And, I saw it when they did the simulation. I had posted before that my radiation oncologist said NO vitamins during my rads, but, I am sure they vary on their opinions obviously. His reasoning was that certain vitamins can and could lessen the effects of the rads, like you said Teena, and, that he really doesn't want my cells getting healthier and fighting back. And, vitamins do that. I always find it interesting to see how our treatments vary. Ok, I am getting off the track here..sorry

Mainly, glad you got that one behind you. How many do you have to do Teena? And, wishing you a speedy treatment with NO side effects!

    Love, Jeanne

After reading your post I think I will stop taking all of my vitamins until after radiation is completed. Better safe than sorry ... and I'm sure my body can live without its multi-vitamin and vitamin B until after radiation.

The doctor said I'd get 33 treatments ... so one down ... 32 to go and so far so good ... :-)

    hugs.

Moopster has simulation #2 tomorrow afternoon, and we are hoping and praying to get started ASAP after that. So happy to know that you have taken the first big step and are moving ahead!

    Good for you, teena
I remember thinking that the rad equipment/room was something almost straight out of a science fiction movie.

Glad it went well for you. Hoping the remainder of treatment will seem to go by quickly, with minimal - if any - side effects.

    Kind regards, Susan

    #1 done!
I am glad that you got that first one out of the way. I know, for some strange reason, that

was the hardest for me. I think, because I wasn't for sure what to expect. And, when it

went so quickly, I was kind of like WT! It took me longer to undress. lol Keep us updated

on your progress Teena! Hugs, Kristin

now that the hardest one is out of the way...
the rest will be a breeze. Never heard about the C, but if they say so, it has to have some credibility. Let us know how it goes, or when you get medium rare!

That's interesting about the vitamin C. I wonder if it applies to orange juice. I know I can't drink grapefruit juice on chemo for some reason.....Glad it went so well for you

You got thru your first one Teena! Good job! I am almost done, thank goodness. And, before too long, you will be too. Just get lots of rest, and, my radiation oncologist said no to vitamins too. They interfere with the treatments. No big deal. I didn't take that many anyway. lol Congrats!

    1st completed
1st rad completed--yeah. I didn't have rads so I don't know what you are feeling but maybe it is the same for when you are going through chemo like me. Always a count down.
4 more chemo treatments left for me and then I will start another count down when I start the Herceptin for one year.
