Pat-neuropathy is not uncommon
Neuropathy (numbness in your feet and hands) is not uncommon, but it tends to lessen, or go away altogether, after you're done with treament. I finished chemo in '06, but I still have numbness in my feet. The numbness is no longer present in my fingers. The drs told me, in my case, that I will probably always have neuropathy, since it has continued for so long. However, as with other aspects of this disease, the effects are individual specific.

Dmc is right, it is common. But, it should go away eventually for some. But, unfortunately, I think for some it doesn't. I hope for you, it does!0 -

hopefully the neuropothy will not last, I didn't have it but was told it was very likely with the Taxol. Usually just the extremities. sorry it had to happen to you.
Take care
=^..^=
I got Peripheral Neuropathy after I finished Taxotare. That was one year ago, I still have a small degree of it but nowhere near as awful as it was at the start, mine has faded, I can now walk straight and handle change, But I am still slightly numb in the toes, fingertips and end of tongue.
Hopefully It'll carry on fading. Hugs Jxxxxxxxxxx0 -

Numbness
I finished chemo on 3/6 and radiation on 6/8. The numbness started about 3 weeks ago. I thought it might be because I'm diabetic - but I keep that under control. Then a woman in the radiation waiting room was talking about it and I realized that must be what I have. I will mention it to my oncologist Friday and see what she says too. Is there anything you can take? Also about 2 weeks ago, I had to have two teeth pulled out due to an abscess. The infection was deep and affected the nerves. I still have numbness in the corner of my mouth, bottom lip. Hope that goes away, or I'll be tawkin' like Sylvester Stallone for the rest of my life - LOLOLOL0 -

If the numbness is neuropathy, it may go away with time, SOME may go away with time, or it may not go away at all.
Yep, best thing to do is talk with your onc about it. She can determine if that is what it is, and she can give you answers.
Hope you are back to talking normally soon!
Hugs,

Padee,
It is my understanding that numbness is common after chemo and, for the most part, it slowly diminishes. Neuropathy was present in all of my limbs for quite awhile, but it's gone now, with the exception of my feet. I finished chemo in May of 2006 and my onc told me that it may never go away completely considering how long I have had it. I just need to think more carefully about what shoes I buy, no more $10 specials for me. When I buy shoes I need to make sure that there is enough padding on the sole to allow me to walk comfortably and enough width to wiggle my toes when they start to tingle more than usual. Over time, I just got use to it. Hopefully, yours will go away in time.

I am showing my age and my mentality I thought you were going to say Sylvester the CAT! Padee I had numbness in my feet and hands really bad, the feet problem went away but my left hand is still quite numb some 10 years later. It just depends on how you body reacts, from what I hear most of it goes away with time.

Now Julia, if I behaved myself, we wouldn't have half the fun would we?
And what kind of comedy team would that make? Since we can't post our little funnies anymore we must try harder.
