pumps
Thanks for the info Jim. I watched an ad on TV for pos-t-vac pumps and thought it a good alternative to pills, etc. Medicare & most ins. cover it. Had a wet day yesterday after I played tennis for 2 hours, repaired a shower & got my car serviced...then found my 1 pad had soaked through. Continence gets a little better each day though.
Cheers,

I used the Osbon battery operated pump, was afraid my hand would get tired pumping, didn't like it quit using it. No luck in the sexual department then or now.
As to incontinence I always wear one just to be safe from lifting, sneezes etc. Alcohol also weakens the bladder muscle so if you sip you'll drip!
Cheap panty liners are all I use. jj0 -

Thanks for your imput guys. I was 1 month post-op yesterday. I have not worn a pad in 3 days. Even when I drink my fav...red wine! Vast improvement. ED... I am not sure of since I am still sore in the affected areas. The doc said it could take 2 months before the tenderness is gone. Its probably my fault since I started playing tennis at 10 days post-op and I can't play soft. The next big hurdle is the results of my 1st post-op PSA next week.
As far as the pump, I have pos-t-vac checking my ins...medicare-blue cross...they should cover all of the $550. At age 65 & after surgery, I'm going to need something "raise the main" & I don't like pills.
Cheers,

Way to go George on the incontinence issue. No pads after 30 days... don't I wish... I still use a couple per day, but it is getting better, most days I do wake up dry, but the walking around still gets me, but hey, only 1 month post op for us both. The ED has not been an issue, I am following my Dr schedule with the Levitra, But hate the headache, and the face flushing. I take 5mg 6 days then a 20mg on the 7th day. I do this for 2 weeks, then only a 20mg once a week. But I see the Doc on tuesday for my follow up, will ask him if I can stop them for now, don't need them at all, things work fine without the pills. Keep up the good reports..

RRMCJIM,
I noticed you said you're having side-effects from Levitra. I take Cialis and have very little ,if any side-effects. And it really is working. But, I was going to ask the Doc to switch me to Levitra, because being retired military the base pharmacy carries it and it would be free to me. The base doesn't carry Cialis. I'll have to read up and see if I switched if I would have side-effects??? HAS ANYBODY OUT THERE SWITCHED ED MEDS?????

Lion I,ve tried all three and am not really thrilled with any. The va here only has cialis which seems to work the least. Viagra and livitra are minimally helpfull. The pump works but is clumsy and initially a mood breaker. It's been nine months and I only had one side sparred so patience is in order. I did have a good sex life prior to the op and and hopping that whats left down there remembers how to perform. My brite spot has been with incontenace . I haven't had any trouble in that area that i don't cause myself and am really gratful for that.
Keep up with the possitive attitude guys

ismetals,
Thanks for the input. Isn't it something about this Prostate Cancer----everyone's experiences are similiar----yet sooooo different. Although we are all human beings, we are all soo different. The posts today really backs that up. One thing for certain today----Patence really is a virtue!!!!

I took a Viagra last night (haven't in a while) the thing worked and I had a great time. I guess you just have to try different things from time to time and pray for the right outcome.0 -
The Pump
Hey gkoper,
I have been using two pumps, the first I bought before my robotic radical prostatectomy, and it was a cheapy, that my M.D. recommended in order to save money. More recently I purchased a battery/manual Encore Revive unit, that has the restrictor bands. I use one of the pumps for 15 minutes daily. The Encore is designed for more permanent ED, which I am hoping will not be the case for me, but having had an element of ED pre-operatively, it may become my best friend on down the road. So far, however, it has not been a real success, as my surgery was 8 weeks ago, and it has become apparent that the arterial blood inflow is not sufficient to create a functional erection. The restrictor bands block venous leak, but in my case that is not adequate for an erection for intercourse. So unless or until I can develop better arterial flows, nothing is working well in that department. I also take Cialis, low dose nightly, and then on Saturday night, a full dose in order to improve arterial blood flows, and develop nocturnal erections.
I hope this helps you. And may you heal quickly.0 -

From what I have Read. Pump is not the greatest.. and my husband's Doctor prescribed Trimix- BiMix injections to use 2 to 3 times a week as "therapy".. Husband says it does not hurt and it is VERY effective.... We even have a letter of necessity if insurance does not pay.. It came in the mail from California in a cold box.. serum has to be refrigerated.. So now we are putting the "college mini fridge in our bedroom closet. This will be a rest of our life thing for us. .. nerves could not be spared..0
