Tired of being PISSED!
My husband's company lost the State contract, so a new company has taken over. We are happy he will still have a job, but crap we are paying more WAY more for benefits that cover crap! I wouldn't mind paying more in premiums if we were going to be getting the same coverage or pretty close, but to have way less ouch!
I know I am not alone where insurance issues and medical bills are concerned and many of you haven't been as fortunate as I have been. I hesitated posting this, but I am tired of being Pissed over it all and just have to get it off my chest. I think I have urged my husband every day to apply for positions with his old company which would mean we would have to pack up and move to who knows what State, but you know to be honest I really do not want to move and I don't think I would have the strength to move so far.
Oh well, I told my husband **** happens, but maybe this is a sign that I will remain NED and we just haven't realized it yet, (praying hard and keeping fingers crossed). I guess that is all I have left to do. Other then pay out of the pocket in three months. Crap even the office visit co-pays went from 15 to 25.
Sorry, I am done complaining!

I hear ya!
Debbie,
It's okay to get it off your chest! I hear ya- I have really good coverage now, but I'm now paying for it through COBRA, as I'm no longer able to work as a teacher (am on disability- still getting chemo, chemo brain isn't too good for teaching, etc.), so... I'm now paying $1375 a month for it for my family. That will be going up even more after October when it switches to CalCobra status. That can go on for another year & then I won't be eligible to buy into it anymore. Then we'll need to switch over for sure to my husband's work-offered insurance. The current cost we were quoted is close to $1500 a month for our family & the coverage won't be as good as what I'm able to get currently.
I'm afraid for the day when the coverage tells me what I can and can't get medication wise, what scans I can or can't get, etc. I already have insurance dictating which oncologists I can see, but they've been really good about covering all my chemos, scans, etc.
We've already had the big insurance discussions on the site a while back. You could do a search for insurance under topics and read the posts on that, if you're interested.
At least you're still covered, as much of a drag as it is, though. Hang in there!!

I forgot what stage you are but have you thought about appling for SSD? I did and at stage 4 got approved right away. Now I am not married so it went off of my income, unlike Donna, who was a stay at home mom for a long time and had only worked a few years (donna hope I got that right) she had to go off of her husbands income and she didnt really get much from SSD. If you havent tried it, then nothing lost, something you might want to look into. Just food for thought.
Any chance you or your hubby is a vetern? if so there are options there as well.

Insurance
I know partly how you feel. We just got the notice from GM that we have lost our eye and dental insurance and that our medical is going up big time, including all co-pays, prescriptions, labs, tests, everything. I already pay $50 an office visit for my oncologist, surgeon, etc. and pay each time I go in for chemo treatments. We already pay a monthly fee for insurance which I understand but still not sure of all the details.
I go into the oncologist on Thursday and am going to make sure I can get all and whatever I need done before the insurance changes.
I'm just afraid losing my health care and of national health care, because I'm now over 50, had cancer, and I don't think I would qualify or get it. Very Scary thought.

I am already on SSA Disability. Because I turned down Medicare, (because I couldn't find a secondary insurance company that would cover me at my age) to back on it now would cost me more money. I am in a no win situation with the medical right now.
I was diagnosed in Stage I so that is in my favor.

Thank you for your support, and especially for just reading my rant. I really got ticked off on Friday when we got the packet for the new benefits. I stewed all weekend and finally just had to rant.
To top that all off the same day I received a hearing notice as Selena's parents (our daughter) decided to try to get DSHS and DCS to relieve her from paying child support. I guess it just all caught up with me. We don't get much for our granddaughter and that truly doesn't matter, it is the fact that Mom and Dad don't want to support her, all they have to pay is $25.00 a month.
Anyway thanks for the encouragement, I knew I wasn't alone believe me I knew that, I guess I needed to hear it. I feel better just getting it off my chest.

Thank you michelle, I will look that up and bookmark it for future reference. Right now being NED I am not on any meds, but you know with cancer one never knows. I know we caught mine early and I try not to worry myself, but with the history of cancer in my family...it does concern me, we just never know when this disease will decide to attack back.
