    Hi,
Have them switch your nausea medicine over to ZOFRAN and try that one to see if it helps better. My first round was really bad too. Taste buds change somewhat and food is not as good tasting for awhile. Stay with bland foods and drinks for nutrition and after a few more days, try something you like and see if you can tolerate that better. I don't remember if I ran fever or not so I won't comment there; if it persists notify your oncologist so they can log and be aware of the symptom you report. Chemo is not EZ, I did 8 rounds of Oxaliplatin, Avastin, and Xeloda and it made me feel miserable alot. I found the first 4-5 days after treatment were the worst for me, and I usually missed 2 days of work each time that I did it. After about day 6, you start to feel a little bit better, but not like your old self. I'm not going to mislead you and say you recover each cycle. Your body will adjust to the chemo and you will feel your worst as I said for a few days after treatment, and then you'll get to something that you can function with.

When you see your doctor, just be real open and tell him everything that you experienced. He will evaluate and may adjust your chemo dosages and whatnot. Be open, be firm they do take notes and listen to what you are saying.

My first was the worst and then I got my mind right and said this is what I have to do if I want a chance at survival. Every day counts so please try it again. I almost quit after my first time and told the doctor so...told him I had my house in order and was ready to meet Jesus, although I was scared. But I tried again, and we knocked out my liver at least for now. CEA's dropped from 19.2 to 0.8, so chemo did work but it was rough. There is a price to pay for this life. But I'm just being honest with you...I did it and I know you can try it again. The best advice I can offer when you feel bad, is to go and lay down and sleep or rest as much as you can....helps the body and the mind and helps to pass those bad days....watch a little tv in between.

All the best and I'm sorry and understand how you feel being sick. I'm facing chemo again myself and do not look forward to it, but will face it when the time comes.

    Hi there!
My first round was really bad too, I was so sick, and couldn't eat or drink a thing, and yes, I did run a slight fever of aboot 99.7. but remember, if your fever gets to be 100.5 please go to the emergency room, it could be a sign of an infection, don't let it get higher then that, without seeking medical attention!

They have me on ativan, phenegran and zofran, at first, which didn't work for me at all, when I told them what I was like, they then added Emend and Dexamethasone, which worked like a charm, hopefully your insurance will cover it, but it was a godsend for me, I no longer feel like I'm going to puke my brains out, I am able to eat on it now, and yeah, when you get unhooked from the pump, the first few days will be your weakest before you start bouncing back to yourself again, I get my chemo every other Wednesday, a home health nurse comes on that Friday to unhook me, I relax all weekend long, and do what I can, I try to stay as hydrated as possible, and also saltines really helped my nausea as well, and of course a few puffs of the maryjane made the nausea go away, and helped me sleep as well...also, will help you eat as well, it's munchie city for me after that, I tell ya!

But around that Monday or Tuesday after getting unhooked from the pump, I do feel better, and you will get better, just ask for better anti-nausea meds, and you'll do just fine, drink lots of water, some ensure, do what you can to keep you weight on, you don't want to waste away either.

I hope the next round is better for you, don't give up, I'm going for my 7th treatment this Wednesday, so as it accumulates, the doctor is adjusting my dosages for the meds as well, so they stay on top of the sickness!

    Hugsss!
