Pads .... preference .... sanitary napkins ....
We're in June now and the last week I've been sleeping like a baby, and without a pad! I'm down to 1 pad a day when I work from home and a pad a mile or so when I hike. So, hiking, bending down, farting and sneezing still creates a bit of a problem, but only using a pad or two during the day 2 months after surgery seems like magic to me.
Now, my question is: I don't care for my pads (depends) when I hike. They're fine when I work, but it gets too hot between my legs when hiking, sweat and leakage is not something that enhances my hikes. So I've been thinking of using Sanitary Napkins of some sort. A feminine product maybe. Something without a plastic liner, something shorter, soft and absorbent. Does anyone have any experience with an alternative to 'depend pads', something that absorbs but does not get too hot when the weather is hot or when hiking.
Thanks again, all the best to all of you!

Pads
At 1 1/2 years out from DaVinci, at some point I switched from Depends to women's self-sticking pads, and they worked fine. I forgot I was using them until undressing for bed. They are not sweaty at all. I did a 40 mile bike ride with one, and at the end I was shot but the pad was fine. Obviously, their application would depend on the amount of leakage one is having, but once I made the switch, I don't remember ever needing more than one per day. Now, I generally do not need anything, but if I think I'll be socializing with some alcohol (which seems to "loosen the muscles"), I'll use one for safety. And I discovered that I could carry one in the "secret" compartment of my wallet, should an emergency arise (which hasn't). (Quite a switch from my younger days of carrying a condem there....!!) Good luck on your continued recovery.0 -

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I like your response on the condom ... made me smile ... oh so true .... those days are gone.

Pads etc
I used Walgreens' brand pull up briefs/pads after trying several pads. They fit just like briefs with straps instead, so the sides are exposed. They are padded from front to back. I used them for about nine months untill I no longer needed any. The good thing they remain intact and don't shift, don't leak, not bulky and they breathe nicely, so no sweating. I even recommended them to my surgeon's nurse. Best of luck.0 -
Tena "Male Guards"
Hi.
I am 3 1/2 months past my robotic surgery. I use Tena "Male Guard" pads. They provide more coverage up by the waistband, and taper off to the groin. I use two per day. One during the day, and one at night.
My only complaint is that they tend to cause me to get rather sweaty around the scrotum. Other than that, they work fine. I use them during my gym workouts, too. I just switch from my boxer briefs to briefs (which are tighter and act as a jock strap) and put a pad in. No problems.
I hope this is helpful.

I am 6 weeks post robotic surgery. I am still using depends type. I am dry at night but, saturate 3-4 depends in 24 hour period. I tried pads but, soaked through with no warning. I hope recovery picks up some speed!

I have some of the tena male guards, have not tried them as yet. Still unsure of myself out and about with only a pad. The Depends are very absorbent and instill confidence when we go places. I have had times when no bathroom was available and I needed to rely on them longer than I would have normally had too. But it has only been 2 months for me.
