This 2nd round has been a nightmare. I went in Tuesday for my 2 hour infusion of Oxi and right after it ended I had a bad reaction. They gave me more anti-nausea meds, steroid, benedril, nothing worked. I went back Wednesday and got more fluids, anti-nausea and hooked up to my pump for 5FU. THIS SUCKS!!! I said it before, I want to quit! I can't walk without tingling, I can't eat or drink cold things, my leg muscles cramp, and I have headaches.

Ok, enough bitching. The round of Chemo it took 5 days before I felt better...come on Tuesday.

    It does get harder....
I'm on Folfiri, and this was my 3rd round, 6th treatment, and I was even feeling more nauseated, but the Emend did help me, and I was actually doubling up on the anti-nausea meds, I figure, if the side effects are gonna get worse, then I better take more for it. I am even on morphine for the pain in my side, and oxy's, and they weren't even helping, so my doctor is upping the dosages which will hopefully help me then, she hasn't upped them since I was first dx'd, but it will spare me doubling them on my own and running out of them so much faster. Have you taken Emend or dexamethasone, or maryjane? it does help as well, even saltine crackers do help abit in the queasy area.

    Hugsss!

    My Second Round
My second infusion was a lot more intense than the first and the symptoms lasted for 5 days, then had two days where I felt good and then got sick to my stomach for three days so I didn't seem to do well on my second round. I just started round three on Tuesday, had infusion yesterday also, and get fanny pack disconnected this morning. Not sure what symptoms I have with round three but will let you know.

Hope you get to feeling better soon.

Each round is going to be different.

    Treatments
I know how you feel. I was on FLOFOX (5FU, Lecovorin & oxy) every other week during the winter monts (WV). I could not eat or drink anything that was cold. Drank everthing at room temp and even warmed-up cold fruit in the microwave. Had to wear gloves to get anyting out of frig and also wore them in the grocery store in the diary and freezer section.

When I had my port put in they punctured my right lung, but I did not know it at the time. A few days later, I felt like I was having a heart attack, shortness of breath, clamy feeling, pale, sweating and heart racing. Called 911 and went into the ER. Radiologist performed some sort of out patience surgery and I had to wear a device with a tube in my lung for a few days so it would inflate itself again.

Had an allergic reaction to the oxy as well, but my Onc doc increased my meds and finished that round fine.

I had several other bumps in the road, but this is a road you want to travel and finish.

This will be a long battle you will need to fight and it is worth fighting for even if you don't feel it now.

I remember the first time I could drink something cold. My husband parked infront of the ER at our hospital, just in case, and I started to drink an ice cold soda and it was GOOOOOOOD, and nothing happened :)
