Obtain A Second Consultation

Just wanted to tell my story, in regards to the first doctor who diagnosed my cancer. Was like playing a "guessing game."

He said he tried to call me with the results, which I did not receive a message. When I went to his office, he "read off" the pathology report. Told me to see the oncologist and "get back with him."

Well, after the oncologist (which was on a Monday afternoon), I obtained a second consultation (on Tuesday morning) and five weeks later had the surgery. The doctor who performed the surgery, gave me several options. At the end, I decided to go with the right side masectomy. He was wonderful. The hospital (Holy Cross - Fort Lauderdale) was terrific.

If you are not sure about your doctor, seek another consultation.

Getting a second opinion is always good. It's made a major and totally positive difference in the care of my beloved Moopster. And even though we went with both the chemo and the radiation treatments specified by our out-of-town oncologists, our hometown oncologists never copped an attitude, but cooperated 100% with the course Moopy and I chose.

You probably should get a second opinion. Anytime you feel doubt or uneasy with your present oncologist or whatever doctor it is, you should go elsewhere. No good doctor will mind your doing that either. A bad one might. Good luck to you and let us know!
