me too
on my last day and on pump disconnect day i thought i would feel so happy, but instead i felt a little emotional and teary eyed, but the week after when i started feeling good again, i never looked back. That was in april and i have not felt sad or depressed or scared or any of those things. Of course the diagnosis and fear is always there a little bit in the back of my mind, but i try to not think about it too often and instead concentrate on staying healthy and hopefully you will do well as well. Congrats on your milestone!!!0 -

You have become accustom to having all these people in your life and now that its over it seems like you will not see any of them again....and mostly you are going through a big sigh of """"""""RELIEF""""""" thats its finally over and you have won the battle......cry girl, then laugh with joy right after cause you have beaten him down...and for that you deserve anything you want......We all love ya.....keep on keepin on.....God Bless ya sweetie..0 -
Teary Eye
When my treatments were over I was finally able to sit down a have a good cry. I don't know if it was because I hadn't allowed myself to show much emotion from the beginning or what, but I was on an emotional roller coaster for quite a few weeks after treatment.
My dr. also wanted to leave my port in, but I refused to allow that. My situation might have been a little different though, as I have never weighed over 110 pounds, so the port sat right against my color bone, everytime I moved my arm the port would hit against the bone and cause so much pain. I couldn't wait to get it out and was glad I did.

Boy was I wrong!
Emend or not, I am so sick tonight. I have taken Compazine, no help. I will try Lorazapam next. I can't take Zofran as I had Aloxi today and it doesn't mix with Zofran or Kytril. God, I hate puking!!!!
I know this is my last week of chemo, but why does it have to be so bad the first day???
Thanks for letting me whine. Vicki0 -

Such a tough road, I am sorry it is so miserable for you. I am praying that the Lorazapam helps and you get some good rest. Hang in there!

You Go Girl
Vicki I am so thrilled that this is your last chemo visit. A party you do deserve with all the balloons and cheers. I can understand the reason why you would cry. This is a whole new journey for you, a whole new beginning but a wonderful beginning at best. You have been such an inspiration on this board and love your positive attitude so please continue to share your story. It sounds like you have a wonderful support system and you deserve it and take that support and put strength in yourself.
Good luck on your wonderful new life.
Hugs! Kim0 -
almost there!
Vicki,
I am so sorry you are feeling so sick for your last round. Yes, that this will be over for you soon! Almost there! Thinking of you and praying for you.

Feeling better...
A mixture of Emend, Compazine and Lorazapam seemed to do the trick. I was able to sleep from 9pm until 3am...a long time for me. And I ate dinner as well, thanks to my sweet husband. Bring on Day 2! I am so ready to get through this week.
Thanks for all the encouragement and kind words. I will be around here for a long time. NED doesn't mean finished...just the next step!
Many hugs, Vicki0 -

Sorry about your port. This is my second one, the first was a disaster put in by a guy we call Dr Doom. My second is a dream. It is in a good spot, I hardly ever notice it. And I don't feel the needle pricks, nor do I have any access problems, unlike before when even the nurses were swearing at it. They were as happy as I was to have it changed. Sometimes even cancer patients get lucky!
many hugs, Vicki0 -
Happy for You
You're right, NED doesn't mean finished.....now you go into
the scan/bloodwork every so many months with accompanying
anxiety...at least that is where I am at.....BUT you are
over with the chemo nastiness and that gives such a
sense of relief and freedom, it is wonderful. Up
the exercise and recreate the diet and remind the beast
it doesn't have a home in your bod!

I never had problems with needle pricks, nor any access problems. The thing just hurt from its positioning. I know the surgeon did his best but I suppose it is hard to place something like that on such a small person with no meat on her bones for any cushion.
My sister-in-law suffered horibly with hers, as she was sick to her stomach from the moment they put it in until the day they took it out.

Made it through Day 2
No nausea today...just the inevitable weariness. Taking it easy here on out. My darling daughter drove me today and will on Thursday, and hubby is home tomorrow and Friday, so I am covered there. I was so worried to do this round, but so far it seems to be OK. I even worked a bit today.
Thanks for the support....Vicki0 -

Hang in there...clear sailing from here on out!
Saltines works wonders with my nausea at times, good luck though, you're doing wonderful! I'll be so happy when I get my last one as well, that's for sure!

Day 3 over...
I am getting a few more side effects as the week wears on, but still not bad. The nurses keep hinting about a Party on Friday, with singing and dancing. Well, they will have to do the dancing! I am sooooo tired all the time. I slept six hours yesterday after treatment, then got up for a bit and slept all night. We'll see what today brings.
Every day I match my earrings to my scarves...I have quite a collection of fused glass earrings. The nurses check them out. I got the brilliant idea to get a pair for each nurse. My artist who makes them (she's in Chicago...I am in Colorado) rushed them out the door, and I hope they get here today so I can hand them out in the morning. Fingers crossed!
Thanks, Vicki0 -

That sounds amazing! I love and still wear "Big" earrings, I bought a couple hats from Icings yesterday at the mall, and love them to go with my thinning head, the nurses will love those! Glad you got rest after treatment, I always feel so "jittery" when I have that fanny pack on, that I don't get much rest with it on. I hope you get those earrings in time for your nurses! you have my fingers crossed!
Hugsss!
