Pre and Post op chemos
Before my surgery I had 5 weeks of 5 day a week radiation and 5fu, surgery followed 4 weeks later and then 4-6 weeks after surgery I started 6 months of 12 treatments of Oxaliplatin, Leucovrin. and a 5fu fanny pack for 46 hrs every two weeks.....0 -
Stage 3 rectal
I was Stage 3 rectal. I had presurgical chemoradiation, surgery, then more chemo. My original diagnosis was 5+ years ago so the chemo "cocktail" has changed a little since then.
The treatment may be quite different depending on whether rectal or colon, Stage 2 vs. stage 3......so you may get a lot of different answers here.

Stage 2 here
Hi. I was stage 2-b, meaning that the cancer was in my colon wall, but had not broken through. I was lucky I had the colonoscopy when I did. The staging was done after surgery when the tissue and lymph nodes were sent to the pathologist. I had 29 negative nodes which was the best news of all. From the information gathered from the colonoscopy, I did not have any treatment prior to surgery, but I did 9 of 12 chemo treatments after surgery for "insurance." I hope this helps you out.
Hugs,

Stage 3 Rectal Cancer
I am considered Stage 3 Rectal Cancer. There was no tumor but they found a cancerous lymph node. I had a colon resection on May 15, 2009. I will begin Chemo in 2 weeks. I was told yesterday that it will be for 6 months. There will be 12 treatments of Oxaliplatin, Leucovrin, 5fu every two weeks. The doctor likened it to hitting a tack with a sledgehammer. Yikes! Am I a little nervous? You bet!0 -

Stage 3 here
I was DXd as stage 3 rectal cancer. I was given 5FU before surgery, in conjunction with radiation. After surgery I am on 5FU again. Because my tumor was completely responsive to radiation (GONE at the time of surgery) and they now cannot find any evidence of cancer, they eliminated the oxiliplaton (sp?)

Stage II Colon Cancer
DX w/Stage II Colon Cancer in 2006 with NO lymph node involvement or signs of spreading to other areas. My Onc recommended FLOFOX Regime as an insurance policy to make sure that there were no micro cancer cells floating around my body, so after a lot of thought and discussions, I decided to do the chemo.
Drugs were 5FU by flush and pump (1-1/2 days); lecovorin (sp?) and Oxypilitian (sp?); given every other week for a total of 12 treatments.0 -
