Chapter One....

Hey everybody...I'm still alive!! And as promised, here is my story......:) Pammy
....now that all her prep is done, she takes one last look around, sighs, and walks out the front door. It is eerily silent as her husband holds the car door for her to get in. He smiles and leans over to kiss her and tells her how much he loves her, trying to lessen her anxiety, if only for a moment. She looks up at the dark sky but smiles at all the twinkling stars. Yep, she has so much to be thankful for and this is just one more thing to remind her of that.
They make small talk as they head down the road trying not to think about what is ahead. Pammy is glad she took the xanax earlier because it is starting to kick in and she is greatful for this. It isn't long before she sees the all too familiar sign, "Aleghany General Hospital".
She can hear Bill talking to her but does not hear what the words are that he is saying. She feels frozen and doesn't want to get out of the car. Eventually he gently coaxes her out of the car, down the steps, and through the sliding doors. Daylight is just starting to break and all she can think about is that this may be her only chance to run. He must have been reading her mind because all she heard him say as they walked towards the registration desk was, "Honey, I know that look. Don't even THINK about running away".
Was it that obvious? She had no choice but to give in.
"What is your name and what are you here for?" the kind women behind the desk was asking her.
Pammy answered, "My name is Pamela and I'm here because I'm too chicken to run away. Soooo, just how many male nurses do you have around here anyway?"
Bill knew he would have to step in and speak up. He was afraid this would happen if she doubled up on the pills. "I'm sorry", he started, "seems my wife may be a tad medicated at the moment. I think it would be better if I speak for her".
Wow, all the sudden she felt really relaxed and happy! Maybe this wouldn't be so bad after all, she thought to herself. Wait a minute. Where is everybody? The hospital seems so empty. Are we in the right place?
After Bill took care of the paperwork, the kind women behind the desk put a braclet on her and directed her to a waiting area.
"Honey, are you sure I can wear this? They told me absolutely no jewelry today and I don't want to get kicked out for not following the rules!!"
Poor Bill spent the next 45 minutes convincing her it was OK to wear the "special" bracelet. He was so happy when the nurse walked in and called her name. "Let's go, dear, time to get you ready."
Pammy sighed and reluctantly floated behind the nurse explaining that it was not HER idea to where the braclet. The nurse turned around and started to ask her what she meant when Bill stepped in and said, "Xanax...."
The two of them looked at each other knowingly and just smiled as they continued down the hall to the pre-op room......
