I suppose they have some guidelines they follow as to what info they can and can't tell, but they do not have to be rude. If it was their life on the line I bet they would want to know some answers too. I hope the next call works better.

Don't be too hard on yourself. I, too, have experienced nurses (even in the oncology office) who I thought were extremely rude. Well, it just so happened, that the nurse I liked the least showed up at the cancer survivor celebration I attended this past Wednesday. I don't suppose she was forced to be there, but she was there anyway. I decided to give her another chance.
As for others I have had the unfortunate circumstance to meet in the health field-there are just some downright rude people who work a job like it is only a job, including people in the healthcare profession. I have met some of the rudest people in the healthcare business, or maybe they seem excessively rude because I am excessively anxious. Well, it's just a thought.
Hope you get results soon, I think waiting is one of the hardest parts about this journey we have all been forced to take. Signing off until later...I need to feed my hubby.

I was so lucky, the receptionist at my surgeons office always recognises my voice (Daft english accent helps I guess) calls me by my first name and is just such an efficient favourite Auntie type.
Sorry you are being given the run around......Maybe you are another lady who should tell them to "Bugger-Off"...Hey new club! The Bugger off brigade!!!!!!!

I'm so sorry you have had a bad experience with the staff at your doctor's office. I have come to realize how very lucky I am. I cannot tell you how professional and caring the staff is/are ... in my surgeon's office, the medical oncologist's office and the radiation oncologist's office. Since I have recently had more visits with the medical oncologist's office for chemo ... I must say ... they are the best. In addition to being extremely professional ... they do it all in a very personal manner. It makes you think you are their only patient. I finished my 12 weeks of taxol/herceptin 2 weeks ago ... and now I only go every 3 weeks for herceptin ... and I must admit I miss seeing them.
I went for my mapping for my radiation treatments last week and again I am amazed at the staff. I realize how lucky I am to have 3 terrific doctors who have each have a wonderful staff. I can call any of their offices and the tone of voice on the other end of the line is so caring ... again ... it makes me feel as though I am their only patient.
It's bad enough that there are some rotten apples in the bunch ... but it is especially bad to have those rotten apples dealing with people who have cancer. We need all of the understanding and patience we can get. We need answers to all of our questions ... even if we ask the same questions over and over. We need to know our doctors ... and their staff ... care about us.
Again ... I am so sorry you dealt with one of those rotten apples. I'm not sure I could have "behaved" myself ... and afaid I might have really given her a piece of my mind!

First, I want to say that that is the MOST adorable baby and I just want to kiss those little cheeks. Okay, I'm over my baby moment.
I think that every nurse or office staff should be trained in how to deal with us. We are not horrible people, we are waiting and tired of waiting for answers from test results that may change our lives forever. I don't think that they receive the type of training that would be most beneficial to them and the doctors. Sometimes, the doctors are even worse. Maybe that is something I can come up with and use my teaching skills. I taught students that were in gangs to be empathic and accepting of something that was different from them. I can use my skills for good. What do you think? Do you think we could get it pushed into mandatory training at least for office staff and nurses? We'll deal with drs. at a later date.

i woild talk to my onc let him know just how rude the nurse was. you dont have time to deal with rude nurse she should have your back side. i called the onc office one time they didnt call back. when i went to see onc my hubby told him about the call i didnt get.my onc told me if i call again to ask for him he would take my call. it neveh happen again if i call they call my that day. good luck to you. kiss the baby for me the picture is supper0 -

Good response Taleena! Sometimes you need to do that to reel some of these people back to the real world. I also have had my share of rude ones, but sometimes I think it's the nature of the job...the medical folks now are expected to do much more than they used to because of quotas, policies, etc. That does not excuse the rudeness. When we fire back as you did, I think that wakes them up to what the real purpose of their job is...the HELPCARE business. Hope you have better days ahead, you go girl! Cindy0 -

T, I don't do Rude And I agree, I think people do need customer service classes one o one, but I don't think they have them. Sometime you just want to reach through the phone and grab a hold of them and go LOOKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK I need answers and oh by the way, could u not be so rude! I swear sometimes I feel like I am just a dollar sign to them.
