Hi my dear sisters, For the past couple of weeks I've felt some odd little bumps above my mastectomy scar. I called my cancer center yesterday and they said to go see my GP. I saw my GP today who immediately sent me for an ultrasound. The radiologist said the chance that it is a recurrence is 50-70%. I see the surgeon tomorrow sometime between 2 and 4. Please pray, or send golden light or just share your fellowship with me. I love you all. Lynn

You are definitely in our prayers, Lynn!
Here we were hoping and praying that you would land that job, but we are definitely praying now that it is NOT a recurrence.

    I love you two.
Just like Tasha, you are so firmly entrenched in my heart, the two of you, as if you are my neighbors. Thank you for your prayers. The job feels like a blip now. New perspective. Hope rads are going smoothly. Ah, springtime in St. Louis. Lynn

    Praying
Lynn 1950, I am so sorry! You were so right to go see the doctor as soon as you saw those bumps! (I noticed mine in my mastectomy scar about a year ago. Then a rash. GPs said it was just scar tissue. I didn't get diagnosed until May of this year when I went to a dermatologist for a "rash.") Recurrence after a mastecomy is rare and the fact that your GP recognized the possibility means heaven is looking out for you. The wait and the not knowing is agonizing and I feel for you. I wish I could carry some of your load for you. I'll bet the surgeon will do a needle biopsy and hopefully have an answer for you before the weekend. Please let me know. Hang in there. The waiting and not knowing are the hardest part, I think. Once you know you can breath a sigh of relief if it is negative, but if it is positive, you can take control and get the engine going for a cure. Recurrence is not the "death" sentence it used to be. My oncologist firmly believes I will be completel cured of my cancer after I get my whole thing done. I hope and pray that your test comes out negative. But if it doesn't, keep strong and come back to talk. There is so much hope here! And it appears you have an angel looking out for you.

    question for Moopy and Joe
ARe you guys staying in St. Louis for the radiation treatments? I am suppose to go to Greenville for mine, but that is eighty five miles each way. I am thinking of just staying down there for the duration. Is that doable? Can you get reasonable rates at motels, or at least get hospital discounts? Are you able to go out and have some fun after your treatments, or do you get too tired and sick? Please let me learn from you. I would really appreciate knowing your journey so I can plan mine, too. And also because I've posts from and to you and you are one really cool lady!

Absolutely you will be in my prayers Lynn. Let me tell you I just went through this, could not share it on the board, dummy me, just waited it out. I turns out to be scar tissue, and they did the MRI, ultrasound and mammogram to be sure. Now they want me to do another MRI in three months just to be sure, but this is somewhat normal according to all the pro's I talked to about it. I will pray that this is the same with you, and please let us know as soon as you find out.

    Dearest Lynn
Oh, Lynn, you are so dear to us, neighbors in our hearts for sure. We have you firmly in our hearts and prayers and thoughts.

Hold tight to the peaceful and soothing images and feelings you experienced just this past week at Living Waters. And Arbojenn is right: even if it were a recurrence, you will be OK.

Your new photo is lovely. The tender and joyous moment with your daughter on her wedding day is so touching. Even in profile, I can see that you look alike and are both beautiful. You will be there to celebrate her children's weddings.

    Love, Moopy

p.s. We are enjoying the springtime storms of St. Louis!

I don't know you so well. With my family and working I have a hard time keeping up with all the discussions. Thanks so much for your support. I have 2 little solid masses beneath my skin. One 3mm and one 1mm. I've already had chemo and radiation, so if it's cancer, I don't know what can be done.

Thanks for seeing and responding to my post. Your support means the world to me. Tell me what happened to you, Cat's Toy (I always enjoyed your graphics and sense of humor and think it stinks they took our pretties away!). Lynn

You most certainly have it, Lynn, in spades...
Oh, dear. So sorry you have to face this worry. Of course, heartfelt hopes your way for tomorrow's appointment. Hoping it is absolutely not a recurrence, just bothersome scar tissue or something else non-threatening.

You got it... Golden light, positive vibes, good karma... All of it. Again, in spades.

    Kind regards, Susan

Hi, Arbojenn, and thanks for the compliment. I sure feel cool with no hair on my head!

I can tell you there are medical rates. You do have to ask for them, though. The hospital where I will be treated also has apts that you can use either cheaply or maybe free. Do ask the radiation office/nurse or hospital guest relations as soon as you can. Also, the ACS is a good place to check. You can go to the homepage or just call the ACS number (sorry I don't have it with me).

Joe and I are breaking open my 401K for a splurge to have all of us, dogs and all here in comfort. I figure: I first have to make it to retirement age. Then I will worry about a "retirement lifestyle."

As far as how tired you are after rads, I won't have my first treatment until the end of the month (another story). But, Mimi and Jackie and Nancy (Mike's Sunshine) are all currently getting rads. Jeanne just finished not too long ago, as have Kristin and Noel. (Sorry for forgetting someone: I know I have but can't think right now. My apologies, sisters.) Any of them can tell you more about the level of fatigue. You can read older posts, or just start a new thread.

I sure hope it's not so tiring that you don't feel like getting out and about. I would hate to think I will be lying up here in the big city of St. Louis instead of having fun.

I will be glad to answer any questions and help you learn from me. I have learned so much from the wonderful women like Lynn who have been here for me and all of us. It's good to "pay it forward."

    All the best, Moopy

where else can you find such support?
    Lynn,
We are always here (at least some of us all of the time, or is it all of us some of the time?) and you can usually get an answer or two or three! And we all know each other better and faster than with most other relationships because we have all experienced something so devastating to our lives and come out the better for it. How long has it been since the chemo and rads? I just know it will all turn out OK, but please let us know when you have an answer.

And yes, I do so miss being able to post (and see others) fun little g.i.f.s, but it only takes one to spoil it for the rest. We just move along and keep up our spirits in other ways. You would think CSN would realize that anything at all uplifting can do so much good for anyone going through all the various treatments, procedures, etc and we need all the levity we can get. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.
    Take care!

    Praying for you!
Hi Lynn, I have been busy all day and just now came in here to find your message. I truly hope and pray this is a false alarm, yes it can be! Actually the radiologist should not be quoting percentages to you that is the job of your onco so please don't let him upset you too terribly. Hang on to the hope that it is simply scar tissue that is becoming more noticeable as that too is quite possible. I will not be here to know what the results are as I will be out of town for a bit. I will check with you when I return. Many hugs and a ton of prayers, positive thought and love.
