I can't believe I am even here. I am NOT diagnosed yet, but my doctored a mamogram and biopsy(ies)Here is the reason for my my user name and title of the post. I am a 52 year-old MALE, former Marine. At least a year ago I started feeling some "weird" in my breasts. I am "obese" and had had gastric-bypass 5 years ago and about 2½ years into I started gaining weight back. I had lost 150# and have gained about 55# back. I started feeling these lumps, but due to being a male and having a "changing" body form, I wasn't sure and just ignored it. 6 months ago my life started turning into a super-sized typhoon. First I was in a car accident, two weeks later I was layed-off. A month later my dad was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and he started Radiation the first week of January, he is 79 and has CHF. He was SICK on and off during the treatments which extended it by 2 weeks. During this my wife started getting sick off and on and getting progressively worse. Meanwhile dad finished his Radiation but as soon as he got home he started having shortness of breath, after two ER visits with him, they finally put hom on O2 and did rtesting... His pacemaker had quit, so he had to go in for a new one, this time with a defibrillator. Now for the last month and a half she would go to the ER and either get sent back home with an array of meds or be admitted for 2-3 days. I have had emotional problems since my service time and 2 weeks ago I finally broke down and was inpatient psych ward for 5 days. I came home because my wife seemed stable at home and it looked like everything was finally calming down. The day I came home she went to the ER by ambulance because I wasn't there to take her. WE finally got a dianosis - Gallbladder! She is scheduled for a HIDA scan next Monday. Now back to me... I started having this "tenderness" on the surface of my left breast and decided it was time I had this checked out. I started reaershing on-line and by comparing different sites and syptoms, photos, descriptions, etc... I have come to believe there are no other explanations other than Cancer and it has mestastasized. I AM SCARED! OH... I left out one very important factor... my younger sister had breast cancer in her early 20s, she had a total mastectomy of her left breast and at some point she had mentioned something about some gene and the only reason I remembered it was from HEE-HAW BR549. In my reaearch I came accross BRCN1 and 2. The risk factors I have are of course weight next is heavy alcohol use for most of 25 years. We haven't got as far as blood work at the doctor's yet, I just want to wait and see what they come up with.
I bet you are all thinking I am making this is some nut... But I swear it is TRUE! And I am overwhelmed can anybody help me figure this out?

I am sorry about the
I am sorry about the multiple crisis's that have been thrown at you lately.. Trust me I can relate. But the only thing at this point that I can offer is to slow down.. wait for the doctors to perform their tests... then take it one step at a time. That is the only thing any of us can do, that is how we make it. Follow up with your tests.. and let us know how it turns out.. Prayers to you.

Wow, you sure have your
Wow, you sure have your plate full!!! But Taleena is right, slow down and take a deep breath. You have enough worries, don't add to them before you've been diagnosed. Wait till you get the results from the mammogram and biopsies and then you'll have something solid to work with. Many, many women go in for lumps and they turn out to be cysts, I don't know, maybe that's the case with you. If it is, come back and the women and men here will help you through the journey and to the other side. If I had that much going on I think I would want to get some counselling to help sort out the various problems in your family as I'm sure it can become overwhelming.

thank you
Thank you both for your support... as a "newbie" who hasn't even lurking (which is "old school" message board etiquette) and was hoping but not expecting support, especially since I am not a "survivor" yet. It even seemed worse yesterday. I gave my wife an "exam" yesterday to compare and I may be a man but my effected areas definately don't feel like hers. I also checked the lymphnodes in my groin and have lumps there too. I wish I could get some dates for the tests. Something a little ironic though... I have been a "walker" at our local Relay for Life for several years and this year my Dad goes to the survivor's dinner and I am on the verge. Bless you and thanks!0 -

Most of us have had family members with cancer, too, and have done the Relays and the fundraisers for them...until our own diagnoses. Trust me -- you are not alone.
BTW, there is another 1 percenter here, whom I'm sure you will hear from.
One day/moment at a time is the best you can do right now. Stop often to take some deep breaths. And talk to your doctors. Find ones you trust. And get those tests scheduled! Waiting is a b***h, but it's better when you at lest have a date and time!
Come here often. There's lots of wonderful people with no agendas, and nothing to offer but lots of love, survivor wisdom and experience, and support.
Sorry you're here, but glad you found us.
