Casting for Recovery

I just had a humdinger weekend. I took Friday off work and drove for hours and hours and hours across the state to Living Waters Ranch which was the camp that housed a weekend of flyfishing, camaraderie, and wonderful breast cancer survivor support. It lasted through Sunday afternoon. We learned how to cast ( well, I tried to learn, but never quite became "one with the rod") and how to tie flies, and how to better accept ourselves, in a beautiful place.

It was the first time I'd seen the Sawtooths and rainy as the weekend was, the weather cooperated enough so that in our waders and fishing vests we were all able to cast and catch trout with goose droppings more of a hazard than rain drops.

The survivors and staff were wonderful and we all felt like we had known each other forever. The main organization of Casting for Recovery is based in Vermont. Google it for more information. I've missed all of you and it is going to be hard to catch up.

I have a job interview at 10:00 this morning at the little school in my town. Please think and/or pray for me!

Love, Lynn

    Humdinger and Interview
The LIving Waters Ranch sounds wonderful. Don't you love the name? It sounds so healing and inspiring and fun, all at the same time. I am happy that you took this trip, Lynn.

I am thinking of you and wishing you a great interview this morning. Any school would be very fortunate to have you on staff. Please let us know how it goes and what you think of the job.

By the way, are we going to see any pics of you in flyfishing gear? Did you catch any fish?

    Love, Moopy

    Didn't get the job.
I am so bummed. My certification is K-8 and the Board decided they wanted someone with a secondary endorsement (the position was .6 7 and 8th grade English and Social Studies), so they could hire a full-time person who could teach US History in the high school as well. This must have been an applicant that came in after they offered me the job last week, because at the time I was offered the job, I was the most qualified applicant. Very hard day today. I took some Xanax and just woke up.

I still have my teaching job from this year; I don't like it because it's a 45 minute scary drive in the wintertime. I know I should count my blessings. It's just a letdown right now. Lynn

    Lynn....
Maybe you were not meant to have that particular job because something better is in store for you. As disappointing as it is, I find that I often am thankful certain things didn't pan out the way I wanted them to or I would have missed a better opportunity. Hang in there and look for the next open door. Made you could teach "how to fish"!! I would sign up!! :) Pammy
