I never thought I'd have to be on a Discussion Board regarding cancer, but here I am! Anyway, I am new to everything and becoming a research expert on tests, meds, etc. I posted earlier about Oncotype and got some great, informative responses. I have also been reading old posts and learning a lot. I'm hoping this will keep me sane as I begin the fun of treatment. I'd love to say it is great to be here but....well, you know.

Tricia :)

    Welcome Tricia.......
Yes, this is kind of like the club that nobody wants to join. But everyone on this board is amazing and inspiring! When I joined last year, I had so many questions answered, so much comfort, so much encouragement. The wonderful people here, talked me down off of so many ledges, that I will never be able to thank them enough!

While many of the treatments are far from pleasant, they are all doable. And you will have a lot of cheerleaders dressed in pink, to root you on!

BTW, I LOVE your avatar! Is that your dog??

That is my best friend, Bridget. She's a 15 year old beagle so she is not too active anymore, but she has already proved to be a big comfort during this time! She's the best!

    Warm welcome, Tricia!
You've joined the perfect group, though sorry for the reason you're here. I joined several months ago, to mark the five year anniversary for completion of all of my "invasive" treatment (surgery/chemo/rads). Amongst us, there are many like you - new to the journey... And, there are those in the midst of treatment... And others like me, long finished, long term survivors. Doesn't matter "where" we are, individually, on the road - we're all in this together. We're all either "there" or have already "been there"...

    Best wishes to you.

    Kind regards, Susan

P.S.: Bridget is adorable! Had a beagle, Gypsy, as a child, love them!

I never thought I would be on one either, but here I am. I am glad you found us though. I love the pic of your beagle and your right....they can be a great source of comfort. I had one that I swear could read my mind!! Keep coming back as everyone here is a wealth of knowlege, comfort, pep talks, and experience. I couldn't imagine being anywhere else if given choice. We are more than willing to walk through your journey with you. :) Pammy

So glad to meet you. I have found out lately that we meet the best people under the worst circumstances! None of us hoped to be here. But since i have been here my eyes have been opened to such amazingly caring, supportive and fun people. This board has become my saving grace many times, and i am so glad you found us here. Feel free to come here at any hour with your worries fears or just to vent a little. These are the most unjudgemental, beautiful hearts in the world. And we welcome you with open sisterly arms.
    God Bless, Jackie

    Hi Tricia
Welcome, even though you really don't want to be here. I so wished I had discovered this site whilst I was going through treatment, it would have made things less scary and confusing. I know you will get the support and answers you need in here.
Pink doesn't suit me, makes me look like a very butch freakazoid......so I am the turquoise sis. Hugs to you Jxxxxxxxxxxx

You gotta have a sense of humor....
As I said earlier, my dog Bridget is 15 and is really not in the best of health. Our worst fear is that she will go during my treatment period. So.....

My mom and I were joking around about getting a puppy to commemorate my "Summer of Treatment" and were kicking around names....we are torn between "Vomit" and "Upchuck" (Chuck for short).

You just have to keep laughing or you'd be crying nonstop!
