Go back to your doctor....
If you are having pain and feel something might be wrong you absolutely need to see your doctor. Perhaps you can ask for a CT scan or ultrasound.
Not much else to say, other than seek medical attention. If the pain becomes too much to bear over the weekend, go to an urgent care center or ER.0 -

i DID see my doctor and he said it was just sore still from the surgery. It's not sore... it burns... I tried to tell him that and I just got brushed off so I thought maybe it was just part of it. I don't seem to know what is the norm and what ain't. Oh well..... I guess it will work itself out.... maybe I just need to suck it up and deal with the pain. Thank you for ur help.

...sometimes have a soreness or tenderness in my left side as well, but that's because I have a tumor in my liver, and my doctor said that could be the Avastin working itself on it, she said Avastin is good for the diseased liver, and may have flareups as it cuts off the blood supplies and stuff, so it could be a good thing for me if it's the meds fighting the disease, I don't know if you have any mets to the liver, but does anyone else who does have some mets to the liver sometimes feel the soreness or flareups in it? of course this is just me, I wouldn't know if I even had a hernia!

Jennie, I have a hernia on my left side, near the navel. It hurts to touch the area, and it hurts when I apply pressure, like going to the bathroom, but the rest of the time it's fairly stable. It doesn't burn. We (doc and me) decided to wait until after I am done with chemo to fix it. If you are still concerned, can you see another doctor? Second opinions never hurt!
Many hugs, vicki0 -

Hi Jennie,
I'm just going to toss this out here for you...may work, may not...and I still think you really need to see your doctor and let him/her know how uncomfortable you are feeling - ask for a CT scan or ultrasound. You know how the squeaky wheel always gets the grease.
Anyway, when I had my hysterectomy someone suggested getting the Swelly Belly Band for after surgery. As it turned out, I didn't need it because I had the DaVinci robotic surgery and had six small incisions instead of one long one, so my recovery was much easier.
Check out this link...it might help:
Swelly Belly Band
Oh yeah, I think most will agree that after surgery it was quite some time before we could lay on our sides. It was tough for me because I'm a side sleeper and I had a lap cat who enjoyed cuddling up on my belly. It was a month or two before I was really comfortable on my side.0 -
I had a hernia in exact same spot
I had a hernia in the exact spot you are describing. I had no pain at all - I just had a "golf ball" size lump that would pop out a bit. I could shove it back in with my fingers - again, no pain at all.
My doctors said I should go ahead and have it repaired because I'm pretty active - and it might get worse. They said hernia's don't repair themselves - you either live with them, or have them surgically repaired. Something you discuss with your doctor and decide.
I've heard a lot of people just decide to leave them alone.
I agree with the others as far as this should be discussed with your doctor. I hope it's not some sort of an infection festering in there.0 -

When I first started on Folfox/Avastin when I was first diagnosed, I experienced an AWFUL burning and breathtaking pain in the area about 2-3 inches up diagonally to the right of my naval. I didn't know what it was - it was actually so bad at times I could barely even walk & was ready to go to ER. Interestingly, it was like this the first 3 rounds of chemo & then I got scanned. Results- my 12+ liver tumors were then down to just 3. I believe and my doctor believes my burning pain was probably the chemo working on the liver tumors (I never had that same pain anymore after that point).
I don't know if that's what you're experiencing or not, though. If it continues on or gets worse in any way, I'd definitely go to the Dr. again. If he doesn't listen, then go to ER or even an urgent care and ask for a CT scan of the area.
Best wishes to you!
