Just so we understand, dear CSN Staff~ Are you saying that these boards are for Words Only and NOT pix and icons and the like? I think mot of us know about the Expressions page, but being that we are here on the boards, scrolling through the lives of one another practically as they happen, it seems appropriate to post a HOORAY banner, or silly cats doing tricks, or "pregnant" grandsons, etc. Please clarify! As you have seen, we are wondering if content has been deleted because it may be offensive or controversial, or simply that we can only "discuss" here, and post on the page specifically designed for photos, etc.

Inquiring minds definately want/need to know!!!

Thanks CSN Staff! :-)

Claudia

    Yes, clarification please.
We understand that we are bound to the Terms of Service, and we are grateful for this internet forum. Speaking only for my wife and myself, CSN has been a lifesaver.

Still, it would help to know whether the problem was 1) with inappropriate content or 2) with posting jpegs and gifs in general. As one who has assisted others in posting jpgs and gifs to the board, I apologize for any trouble I may have inadvertently caused. But it was my understanding that hotlinking to off-site graphics wouldn't be any problem for CSN's servers.

    Thanks,
    Joe

    Dear CSN Staff
I also am concerned about what may be happening to our posts. I think we all are very aware of the "expressions" pages ... however ... this is a very active board with many very supportive people. I believe I can speak for all of us when I say that we get a great deal out of the board by "talking" ... often in "real time." We do not jump back and forth to everyone's name to see what they have on their expressions page. We want as much information as we can get ... and we want and need it NOW. That means graphics of "hugs" "welcome" "happy faces etc. etc. We are a family and we want to share our lives and feelings with the rest of the family. That includes pictures of grandkids or pets.

I do not think any of us has abused the ability to "attach" a photo, a graphic, a poem etc. Those who add attachments just add one item ... not an entire album of photos etc.

I beg you to NOT limit us to put all attachments on our expression pages. So much will be missed by so many people. We need all the encouragement and laughter we can get at this point in our lives. We really don't need the added stress of searching everyone's expression page ... because that won't happen. All we want to do is share in the good news of fellow-posters ... and provide support when needed. Pictures and grapics give us the ability to show we are all here for each other ... and we care about each other.

It will be a great loss if we can no longer visually share our feeling with our Breast Cancer family.

    thank you.

    I second the motion (Urr,,feelings)!!
Very well put, Teena, and so true!! Alot of times I have come to the discussion boards in a bad frame of mind, desperate or feeling like I couldn't continue to do this only to find solace & comfort in a picture that was included to visually express what was being said at the time. Some of us find it difficult to navigate through a site let alone be computer literate.....getting here is an accomplishment and we don't dare "stray" from this particular area. Please reconsider allowing this to continue. If restrictions on content is needed I am sure we would be glad to obey. Please do not take this away from us. Thank you for your consideration. :) Pammy

We certainly affirm that some members need to share photos and other images. The Expressions Gallery is one way that can be done. Members are also able to upload images they wish to have associated with their username. Unfortunately though, imbedding images creates a couple of concerns: members are often creating content using the copyrighted work of others without their permission and/or using bandwidth of other websites without their permission. We hope CSN members will populate the Expressions Gallery with their images.

BTW, members can post links to images in the Expressions Gallery as well as to images on other websites in their discussion board posts.

    Best regards,

    Hi CSN Staff
I, as others, totally agree with TGF! We all have a horrid disease and if we can find a lil humor here, or an animated congratulations or a hug, do you know how that can cheer us up? I have never seen this board so cheerful and so lively as it has been since others and myself started embedding those. And, just the other day, we were uploading pics of flowers and everyone could remark immediately as they could all see it and upload theirs if they wanted. It was a wonderful thing to see, and, we didn't think about cancer for a few minutes.

And, we cannot upload and embed copyrighted images on here or anywhere. If they are copyrighted, it won't let you copy and paste them. So, that isn't the problem. And, how are we using bandwith from others? The sites say to copy them and load them wherever you want. So, I don't understand why you would do this, take smiles and chuckles and feel good congratulations away from bc survivors.

If there were one or two or however many pictures or images that were offensive to someone, please just take them off, as I see you have done, and if necessary, send that person or persons an email stating such. I am sure that if anyone got one warning from you inre to the material that they posted, their "theme" would change.

Please, let us post again and not on the expressions page. Noone is going to go to everyone's expression page daily to look at pics. If you want to put rules on us about them, fine, just let us know and we will follow them. And, for those that don't..they can't post anymore. Deal?

    Thank you! ~Kristin~

For the explanation. Thanks, too, to your ACS/CSN colleagues for all you do for us.

    That is strange Jan.
That is strange Jan. Tasha's pic is gone. I guess they found it offensive too. I just think it is so sad that they took away the capability of us just having a lil fun for a change on here. It hurt noone. If they didn't like it, all they had to do was delete it and email that person, I would think. And, noone is infringing on copyright laws..gawd You can't copy those kind of pics and paste them, it won't let you like someone else said. So, that is wrong what they claimed. I wish they would just be honest and tell us the truth. But, whatever I guess. I thought this site was for us, I didn't realize that it was for them.
