The day is fast approaching for me. Thursday at noon surgery begins. I am excited, and a little nervous too. Lovely anti-anxiety pills are helping. Trying to keep myself busy fixing food to last us a few days. My baby (18 yrs old) just graduated high school tonight, adding to the swell of hormones and emotions. It will be good to have this behind me and moving forward. I so appreciate all the encouragement I receive here from you ALL. Just reading posts before I go to bed at night, gives me hope and strength. I'm not alone in the journey. I'm being restored. And I will wake up with a nice morphine pump, go home to pajama's and my dvd player--and all that lovely food I have prepared, plus a little hidden chocolate that only I know where it is....
I welcome all good thoughts and prayers for a successful surgery.
Thanks sisters!!
Melanie

    Hi Melanie
First let me say congrats to your son, how exciting! You will be fine, it has be exactly 32 days since my surgery and all is well. It was a bit uncomfortable, I used a sports bra for right out of surgery which gave me a bit of added support. I also used a small pillow just under my arm to relieve any friction or bumping that may occur. I am pretty sure you will be happy with your new look once you have healed. I am quite pleased and so happy I took the plunge. I will certainly be lifting you in prayer!

    Hi Melanie!
I just wanted to offer my heartfelt good luck and prayers for a very successful surgery! You are on to a new platform in your treatment and will do fine. As others said, I am sure you will be very pleased for going thru this. Just give yourself time to heal and take it easy. And, congrats on your son's graduation! Hugs coming your way, Jeanne

    Milestones
Hi Melanie, You certainly must have a flood of emotions at these milestones. I had my implants put in in April and my son graduates in another couple of weeks and it will be one year since my bilat mastectomy. These are good markers, something tangible that what we've strived for is accomplished. Enjoy the moments, the drugs and the chocolate......you've earned them all.

    YAY!!!!!!
Congratulations~ and you are correct, you are never alone on the journey! I just wish I had one of the great Drs you all write about~ I talked about reconstruction when I saw my Dr a few months ago and as with everything else, he just blew me off. Like why would I even be asking about anything so ridiculous??? Oh well! Reggie seems to like me just the way I am, so why go under the knife? I would be too chicken anyway! :-)

We will all be thinking of you, and we know you will be on your way to being the beautiful woman we already know you are, on the inside and the outside! Way to go~ and by all means, enjoy the chocolate!

    Hugs,
    Claudia

    With many good wishes...
Congratulations for your youngest's high school graduation - you're obviously a very proud mom!

Of course, sincere hopes and prayers your way for successful and uncomplicated surgery tomorrow. It seems you are about as ready as can be. Take very good care of yourself, Melanie. And, please provide us a progress report when you're able. We're here for you, just as you're here for us, too.

    Kind regards, Susan

Just one more step in your couragous battle right? And yes, that is great news, babies graduating, makes you feel like you accomplished something good there too. We will be on the road for your surgery, but will still send up some prayers your way.
Let us know how it goes! And share that chocolate with no one!

    Good luck to you Melanie!

    Thank you friends~
It has been a busy day "preparing", and I was anxious to read posts for comfort and support. Less than 24 hours and I will be free of the hard expander and am hoping for the amazing moment of feeling the "new me". Softer, maybe rounder, and like I've climbed a big mountain and can now just "take in the view".
I love and so appreciate my cyber support friends~~ you are more to me than I can express!
I will get back on as soon as I can, shouldn't be too long.....

    Congrats
I recall waking up from this surgery, feeling my new soft breast and smiling. The nurse came over to ask what the smile was about and comment on how unusual it was to have someone lay there with a smile on their face. I loved it!!! I had no pain (I have no feeling in that breast) and it was just so much more natural than the expander!

You will be in my prayers in the coming days!
    God bless you!

You are in my thoughts and prayers. I am still recovering from my surgery, but I'm sure you will be much more comfortable with the implants instead of the expanders. I am very excited and happy for you.

    Congratulations on your son!

You are an amazing woman, preparing all those good things before your own surgery!! And thinking ahead to hide chocolate...you ARE incredible ;-).

I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.

    Much love,
