How do I show a picture

Oh Claudia, that is so sad.chenheart said:photographs
I just thought of something....in my 27 YEARS of marriage, my husband, who was an avid photographer, NEVER took any pix of me or us! Whenever we went on vacation, he would not have me in the photo, and would even wait until no other tourists were in the frame, either! Thus, I have lovely shots of where we were, but no people in them! He always said it wasn't necessary to have us in them~ we knew we were at whatever location, and didn't need to "prove" it to anyone else. Sigh
Sadly, except for the few I had taken with me when I left home as a young woman, I have no pix of my parents or sibs; we lost our home in a fire in the early 70's....
I hate to admit this, but I have had no pix taken of me since my diagnosis, either. I side step every camera I see...there was an opening of the new resort/casino, with commerative photos. Reggie is in the picture with friends of ours, I was suddenly "unavailable" to be in the shot! No vacation pix, none from Cabo, I didn't even purchase the ones of me swimming with the dolphins. Some tapes do continue to play in our heads, don't they??? I conveniently "forget" to pack the camera when we go places. Odd how our psyches are damaged in ways we don't consider, isn't it? It is honestly one of the reasons I am putting off marrying my Reggie...I don't want pictures taken!
The fact that my ex was a psychiatrist isn't helping any either!!! LOL
Hugs,
Claudia
Oh Claudia, that is so sad. I'm sure in the future you or Reggie would love to have pictures of the both of you or even just you. REBEL against your ex-slog and stick your face in front of any and all cameras you can and leave your beautiful smiling face for posterity, Reggie and all those you know and love you. I get the shivers that this guy is a psychiatrist with the potential to do some real damage. Show him that he can't touch you! And puleaze give us a wedding, we would be sosoooooo happy to hear you and Reggie are getting married and that you have overcome this "shyness".

I do know what you mean, I never wanted to be in pictures my grown life. But it was because I always hated seeing ME. I was always the little sister of the two beautiful other ones. Brother and Sister. But the weird part is that now I don't care. Take a pic of me, bald, fuzzy, etc. It doesn't matter anymore. Talking about fires, we had all of our old home movies put on a VHS tape, my brother had it for years to make copies, two weeks after I finally took it from him, his house burned down. That was a close one.
Please do not NOT marry "sweet Reggie" because of the photo phobia. If it's right, do it!
Then send us pics! HE HE

You need to at least have one taken for Reggie to have. Even if no one else gets to see it. The good thing about pictures, you get to pick the ones that make you look the best and tear up the others. As for the pictures that were destroyed. Contact uncles, aunts, cousins or friends and see if they have any pictures of your family and ask for copies. This is my opinion but some day a descendant may wonder what you look like. That means descendants of siblings or cousins too.0 -

when you go to your pic on photobucket, just put your mouse over the picture, a box will pop up then you can click on the HTML code from there.

I do understand that urge, Claudia. But please don't let this delay you from marrying your Reggie! Maybe you can have a very discreet photographer, or even just a friend who is good with the camera. This person can take some candids at the wedding, without you even noticing very much. And you don't even have to do any posed photos. The candids are the best anyway. Then, you can either look at them or pretend they don't exist. Good for the descendants, as Marcia says.

MiMi I scanned over 1000 old photos last year and put them on discs. At Christmas I gave one to each of my sibling and my daddy. It was so much fun to watch with them and we all now have copies we can print from if we want to.

I want to do something like this as well. One of my relatives put together a bunch of pictures and then set them to the song, "The Rose." It was horrid. Just awful. The pictures weren't even well selected. So, I want to do something a little better than that.
I love that gift idea, though. I'm sure your relatives were so appreciative. You can't buy those memories.0 -
