Eyelashes
I finished my final round of AC and now I have lost most of my eyelashes. I think this is worst than the hair loss. I look like an ailien, did I mention I longer have eyebrows? Like ohillys thick hair I had long full eyelashes .I miss them. When will they come back? Will they fall out with taxol? Any advice will be appreciated. Surf

Your eyelashes will grow back really thick and fast with Taxol. They will be like little brushes within a couple of weeks. Mine were.
I lost all bodily hair, but the eyelashes grew back so fast it was unbelievable...I hated it when they went, I looked like a PIG!
Mine grew back so fast and I was delighted to be using mascara again!
Hope you soon have to trim them. Hugs Jxxxxxxxxxx0 -

I didn't notice my eyelashes falling out until i started the Taxol....and i agree, i think it may be worse than my hair falling out. You can hide the hair with a wig, but no eyelashes can make you look "sick", which i HATE! I want them back!!!0 -
Hi, Surf!
So sorry for your distress. My chemo was TAC - every single hair on the my body eventually fell out. Yes, EVERYWHERE! (As in pre-puberty!)
I had not been much of an eyeliner wearer pre-chemo. To disguise the lack of eyelashes, I did use a pencil eyeliner and then smudged it a bit. Gave the illusion of lashes, and helped to make the eyes look less "bald"...
They WILL grow back!
Kind regards, Susan0 -

Hi Surf
I havn't even started chemo yet but I already have my fake eyelashes and eyebrows ready...plus wig, hat etc...Has anybody used the eyebrows they sell on the cancer sites? How do they look? Yes I am a tad vain....

Mine too....
My eyelashes too fell out. It's like, one day they were there and the next day, they were gone. Along with eyebrows.
But they grew back in as quickly as they had fallen out. In fact, I didn't even realize that my eyelashes had grown back because it seemed to happen overnight.

Eyelashes
Surf, I finished TAC in April and my eyelashes and brows have started falling out in earnest now, weeks after the last chemo session. I have almost no bottom lashes and my big ole' bushy eyebrows are thinned out. I sympathize. I have a friend with non cancer related hair loss who uses eyebrow pencils to great effect. At least ours will grow back! BTW, the hair on my head IS growing back.

Eyebrows
Hi, Surfermom, there is an older thread with makeup tips from Derbygirl and JoyceLouise especially, and lots of info from everyone. We had a lot of fun and learned what to expect as far as when and how hair comes and goes and comes back again. If you are interested, just do a search using "Eyebrow" or "Eyebrow Regrowth."
I was rejoicing because I am 3 weeks past my last chemo and still have some eyelashes and eyebrows. Am crushed again to hear that those hairs will be going. So, you will have plenty of company, and I am reviewing makeup tips myself. Good luck to you!0 -
I missed my eyelashes the most!
Lost all hair everywhere, but my eyelashes were the most missed. You never realize how much debris they prevent from falling in your eyes! and yes, my face looked like one big blob. No definition. I don't wear makeup, and I did try a bit after that, but gave up. Just like the wigs, etc, I decided to go au natural (you know, that is how I met my husband 30 some odd years ago!). What was really weird, on a Friday going to work they were gone, Monday heading back to work they were back, just as if they were always there. Eyelashes and eyebrows. Very suddenly. You will miss them, but they do come back quick. And I even had the hair on my head growing back during the Taxol. give it a little time and things will be hairy again, and you will be saying: I really liked having no hair on my ____________.
Take care!

I lost all body hair with
I lost all body hair with AC, then they started growing back, then lost it again when I started Taxol, but it all grew back quickly afterward. You can contact ACS and get in touch with a support group "Look good, feel better" who can help with make-up tips and other ways to help you feel better. I never used make-up much before chemo, but I learned ways to use it that I liked, and I kept on using it after the hair grew back. I've been done with chemo for about a year, and my eyebrows are still a very pale blonde...almost invisible without eyebrow pencil.
Hope it gets better soon. seof0 -
Do you have a "Look Good
Do you have a "Look Good Feel Better" program in your area? That was a huge help for me. The cosmetologist showed us lots of tips on the eyelash problem.
There's a drug available now for growing eyelashes! I've seen it advertised and my surgeon has brochures in the waiting room. (It's not for chemo-related eyelash loss - they'll grow back after treatment.) I don't plan to try it, but I thought it was interesting and kind of funny - I'd love to see the drug company's proposal for that research. I probably would take a drug to avoid having to shave my legs - That was the one good thing about chemo. (And yes, I lost my "private" hair during TC chemo but now it's growing back like I was 20 instead of 49.)0 -

Eye lashes and eye brows
HI..
I didn't even realize I lost my eye lashes until I really looked..I think I missed my eyebrows more.
But I wear glasses, so they hid that and the bangs on my wig hid the fact that
I had no eyebrows...buy they came back along with all the other hairs....

I am into my 5th week of radiation, finished chemo 8 weeks ago and still my eyebrows and lashes are falling out. My hair everywhere else is coming back in. Anyone else experience this?
Jan,
I am on my third week of radiation and my eyebrows and lashes seem to continue their thinning. The hair on my head is coming back, however, and yesterday I noticed a few hairs starting to grow on my legs. So I'm in the same boat...

My eyebrows and eyelashes came out "behind schedule" compared to the rest of my body. I finished radiation on April 17th and my eyebrows are pretty much back. My eyelashes are coming in thicker and are growing every day.0 -
Yikes - hair loss everywhere!
Hi everyone – It can be awful losing your hair everywhere – on your head, from your eyes, and yes, your eyebrows and eyelashes. I know it was personally devastating for me when I was sixteen and going through chemo. Remember, just because you are battling cancer doesn’t mean that you can’t look and feel beautiful – I think doctors often forget this! Love, strength and survival, Britta0 -

I finished A/C and have 5 more weeks of Taxol. Didn't lose all my eyebrows/lashes
until starting the Taxol -- however, my hair IS starting to come back. The aggravating
thing is that while being pretty much hairless, I'm still having to pluck and/or wax
these wiry little chin hairs!! Where is the justice in that??0 -

they re not chin hairs! they are stray eyebrow hairs! And mine did not grow until the hair came back, so....sorry?
There is no justice when it comes to the weird hairs that pop out on us as we get older...

I had 4 treatments of A/C and have done 4 out of 12 treatments of Taxol w/Herceptin and I still have my eyebrows and eyelashes.
Keep in mind that everyone reacts different--for we are all different individuals--in a good way.
It is just like some get sick or nauseated while in treatment while other are not effected with the nausea. So with that being said some lose hair they wish they could and other don't.
