Moisturizers
BUT ...
I don't know if it was some of the side effect of the chemo ... or the antibiotics ... but my skin is sooooooo dry. Especially my face and the tops of my hands. It burns, itches and feels like it's so thin it could just all fall off.
Anyway ... what does everyone use on your face when it gets dry and flakey? I've got over another week on these antibiotics and I'm afraid if I don't start slapping some sort of stuff on my face ... I'll be a bigger itchy flakey mess than I am now.
hugs.

moisturizers
Teena,
I use Cetaphil on my face when it gets dry and flakey. It is very light and noncomedigenic so it doesn't clog my pores. There used to be a product by Neutrogena called "Fishermans friend" a very heavy duty hand cream, that I used to use when I would get a dry rash. Good luck and let me know what works for you. Cat, I think that is the funniest thing I have ever seen and read, truly it is! LOL
And Teena, inre to dry skin, my face is normally oily, but, I use the Clinique line of cosmetics and I like their moisturizers when I need one. It isn't real oily and it feels good on your skin and it is hypoallergenic. They offer several choices. Probably the best information would come from a call to your doctor Teena. They can probably hook you up with a dermatoligst that can clear you right up, faster than we can. Good luck Teena and feel better soon!0 -

Are you sure you aren't having an allergic reaction to the new antibiotics? Better to check with the doctor and find out.
First CAT that is the funniest shirt I have seen.
I got very dry skin from chemo. Cetaphil worked for me, I am allergic to all kinds of lotion, but not that one. My dermatologist recommended it before I got cancer. Make sure you check with your doctor if it does not clear up soon.0 -
idea
I don't know if you want it on your face, but Aquaphor works on skin that is dry from radiation. The active ingredient is petroleum, like in vaseline. I used both on radiation burns and they helped. The suggestions the others have may be good too. Of course, remember to drink LOTS of water, and ask your Dr.

My poor eyesight cannot make out the word(s) below the arrow. So, I'm totally missing the punchline. Although I can sorta guess. Just not trusting my "chemo brain" at the moment...
Someone - HELP!!! Spell it out for me! Thanks!

Dry skin...
So many skin moisturizers contain alcohol, for quick drying. Yet, alcohol itself is drying to skin!
Although I had different chemo - my skin became extremely dry and tissue paper thin. The nurses advised me to use only Eucerin brand products. They're "lighter" than Aquaphor, which is commonly recommended during rads. Eucerin is available in several forms: lotions, creams, etc. I used the lotion all over my body, and the heavier cream on hands, feet, elbows, knees, etc. Eucerin is dermatologist tested; so, good for even sensitive skin. And, I reapplied as needed, throughout the day. It was everywhere in my house - at the kitchen and bathroom sinks, on the coffee table, on the bedside table, etc. - and in my purse. Do apply to your hands after each time you wash.
Hope you find some relief soon.
Kind regards, Susan0 -
