I had my second Taxol treatment this past Thursday...I have two more to go (YEAH!!). The only real noticable side effect I am having is the bone pain. I don't want to complain because AC had me in the bed for at least 5-7 days. Any suggestions on controlling the pain without popping Vicodin all day?? My neck and across my shoulders/across my back hurt really bad...is that normal? I'm use to my hips aching due to the Neulasta.

Also, I see the radiation oncologist on Monday to go over the radiation schedule.

    Claritin
Ask your oncologist about Claritin. My oncologist suggested it and I don't know what is in it but it helps with my bone and muscle pain.

I am glad you are doing better with the Taxol. I have 8 more Taxol treatments to go.

    Wishing you the best.

I'm so glad to hear that you are doing better on the taxol. I just started taxol, herceptin and lapatinib on Wed. 5-27-09 and have had very little nausea. Where as on the AC I couldn't even lift my head or I would vomit. I have heard about the claritin, but have not used it. For the bone pain I experienced I have been using a heating pad. This seems to help a bit and give me some relief. I remember from your posts that you didn't know if you could continue with chemo, just think: You are almost through!!!! I'm proud of you. Love surf

    Bone Pain
All 206 bones in my body ached following the Neulasta I can't differentiate that pain from chemo-drug pain! :-) And even though I told my Dr he just poo-pooed it saying no one experiences that, only "mild" pain. He never told me what I could do about it... GRRRRRR So I grinned ( kinda) and beared my way through it.

I am allergic to Vicodin, so I don't know what to suggest to you!

I have heard that Claritin works for many~ I am not sure why! As always, I guess the best thing to do is call your Doctor!Hopefully he will be more helpfulto you than mine was! LOL

Let us know what you find out~ and HOORAY for the countdown to finishing chemo!! Awesome!

    Hugs,
    Claudia

    Almost...
I am SOOO very happy that I am almost done. This experience has been alot and will be rememberable! I really didn't think I could do it,still don't sometimes, but then I realized I have no other choice if I want to be here for my kids (and my daughter is 7 months pregnant). I am still a wuss and a cry baby but I will get though this.

I am going to look for my heating pad to see if that would help...I'm quite sure it will.

Thanks...and thanks for being proud of me!!

    Hi, jaavon2002!
Nice to hear from you. Two more to go - good for you, almost there!

Regarding pain during chemo (I had the Neulasta shots, too), the only thing I was allowed to use was Aleve. One pill covers 12 hours. It wasn't perfect; but, helped quite a bit most days, not all.

Please always ask you doctor, first.

    Best wishes to you.

    Kind regards, Susan

    72 hours after my taxol
72 hours after my taxol infusion I had horrific bone pain mostly from the waist down. I almost went to emerg but I didn't want to wake any docs up (what an idiot!!!) Anyway, neurontin helped take the edge off but I finally resorted to morphine. Call your onc and see what they recommend. Just 2 more and you are SO DONE!!!! Forever!! NO MORE!!! I hope you're going to celebrate. Congratulations!

    Almost done!
Good for you, two more will seem like a piece of cake now right?
The Taxol caused bone pain in my hips and shoulders, but since everyone is different, you need to know how much pain you can tolerate, and if you don't feel like being in pain, take a pill!
Rads will be even easier on your next schedule.
    take care

    taxol bone pain
My chronologist put me on gabapentin, for the bone pain in my legs and hips it worked real well for me, so well in fact i went from popping percocet all day to only once or twice a day.

P.S. Good luck with the rest of your treatment.
Please excuse my spelling, my brain and my fingers are not talking of late so my spelling is the pits.
