help explain department of children and families Fl. shared cost

I have to chose coverage for myself. I would like to hear the experience others have had. What would you recomend. I will begin Social security disability in june 2009. I also start shared cost with a $1571 deductable in june. I will also begin 6 months of chemo and 1 nonth of radiation.
My question is did I make a good choice or not. The other option I have is social security income with medicaid. No deductable. Any all suggestions are welcomed. Kenny. Thank you.

    If you can afford the deductable, you will have more choices as far as primary care doctor and where you can go. I don't know what state you are in, things vary from state to state. I have the no deductable, medicaid here in Ohio has went to managed care, you pick from a plan, so far I have been able to get all my testing and treatments and surgery paid in full. Some medications and tests require prior authorization, again no problems except a short wait on a few till doctor's office got proper paperwork to them. My chemo was over $10,000.00 a treatment, so with cancer you will meet your deductables pretty quick. The plan I picked was caresource, the only problem I have with them, is there are very few choices in my area for a primary care physician, and I have to travel a bit to get a colonoscopy or see surgeon or specialist, there are none in our town that will take medicaid plans. That is OK, I have an oncologist in town that takes it, and when needed she sends me to the James Cancer Center and Ohio State University. Any public hospital has to take your government plan. Hope you have no problems and your treatments go OK.

    Kenny, I am nearing my 5 year mark. I have had my colonoscopy reversed and port removed. Right now taking no chemo, getting another scan next month, and colonoscopy, a lesion is showing on my liver, monitoring closely for activity/growth, thinking positive thoughts that it is not anything that has spread. Have you had any surgery or treatment yet? Hope all is going as well as possible for you.
