Been like that
It's been like that since I joined in 2003. What's even funnier is that we beat out the breast cancer discussion board, and we KNOW how we women can talk! lol
Happy Wednesday!

Yup
I noticed that when I accidentally go back to the main discussion boards and see the posts and recent replies. Yes I think that is a very good thing that we are that active. We have a lot of caring people here ready and willing to help. That is wonderful.

Perhaps the rise in colon cancer among people younger than 60 has a little to do with it too. Lots of us here in our 30s and 40s, it used to be that you thought of colorectal cancer mostly affecting men in their late 50s-60s. Could it be the newest statistics will show an even higher percentage number in the incidence of CR cancers? hhmmmm...just food for thought.

Yes, it could be that we just 'feel' better during treatment. It could be that there are more of us. But that's all bunk! It's really because we have the best people! This group is an awesome, caring, ROCKING group of people!! Maybe crc only strikes the incredibly awesome? Must be something to that.

I noticed that this is the most active board when I first joined, which isn't that long ago. I like to think it's because we feel better than others so that we are able to post. Kimby, I love your answer that cc strikes only incredibly awesome people.I will say that I have met wonderful people on this board and at the support group I attend in my area. So to me that sounds true!lol
But, unfortunately it's also because cc effects more people than breast cancer and aids put together! Most people don't realize this because there is alot more talk about breast cancer. That's why it's so important for us to get the word out there that people must get tested, and they have to stop thinking it only happpens to older men. People also think it has to run in the family, not true, no one in my family ever had cc.
So here's to all you awesome people out there, give yourselves a round of applause!!!0 -

I am a 24 year old that was diagnosed with esophageal cancer back in October. I always read your board because there is so much activity and such positive attitudes. The esophageal board is very slow, and not much going on over there. Hope all of you don't mind me lurking on your conversations. = )

great to have you lurking. I found the same thing when I first started here....I posted on liver and it was really really slow. Some kind staff member finally found me and suggested I move here....lots more action, that's for sure!

By the way, Phil, you really resemble John Lennon in that picture! Nice hat!

noticed it too
I noticed how active this particular board is too. If you stay off for a couple of days, it's amazing how much you find has gone on in those couple of days!
I purposely avoided any postings on "the topic" as it came around again this last time. Been there done that- am done with trying to "persuade" anyone of anything different (at least for now, anyhow- lol!)Still love coming here and reading all the interactions!
Take care everyone,

Hi Cathy,
Good to hear you are getting something good from this board. Everyone here has been fantastic with support and info since my husband was diagnosed with cc back in January.
Best to you fighting the beast.

Hey Cathy!
You're more than welcome here. We are about kicking cancer's butt (pun intended), and we're not particular about where that cancer is. I think colon cancer folks sort of gravitate here, because in the outside world (hee hee), people don't want to think about anything to do with poop or the inner workings of butts. No one minds talking about breasts or lungs, but the poop factor runs them off quickly!
I'm truly sorry about your esophageal cancer, and especially at your age! What is going on with that? Do we have common treatments? How are you doing now? Let us know. Meanwhile, keep the faith!
Hugs,

Location, location, location
I was under the impression there was another reason for it.
And yes Emily, there is a Zappa after all...
I actually took my oldest son to his first concert a year ago. It was "Zappa plays Zappa".
One of his sons tours with some original band members. We went on Halloween night which was when I used to see Frank back in the 70's in NYC. If you've never seen his senate PMRC testimony, you should Google it. It's priceless.0 -
