I'm just wonderingritazimm said:yes, I'm obsessed.
I never really thought that there might be others like me. My husband, daughter and best friend just laugh and tease me that I am now obsessed with boobs. For some reason I notice them all the time. I also tend to talk about my own quite a lot too. I have an implant in the BC side and have finally had my good boob lifted so I now have two boobs in the same hemisphere of my body and can even get away without wearing a bra if I want to. So I am often joking about my new young and perky boobs. They all just laugh at me. It is nice to know I am not alone in this. (I was never boob obsessed prior to BC.)

...when do the reconstructed ones start looking like boobs again? Having had the skin-sparing dbl. mast. and implants put in under the muscles two weeks ago, everything looks and feels pretty horrible right now, which is making me rethink the whole reconstruction thing (even though my rational mind says it has to be easier to do it all at once than to heal and then have to start all over again at square one, right?)
So has anybody had this whole procedure??
And in the meantime, yes, I am obsessed with other women's breasts and the fact that mine will never be "real" again.

I want to be a boobsmaid!!! oh please oh please oh please! We would be twinsies, I am the same, but still have about 2/3 of the right one, that is why seems to be peeking around corners! he he We need a color scheme for the tassels. Should we go with pink ribbons?
set a date!
=^..^=
OK, Cat. Since we've got the matching right side less than one whole boob thing in common - that one's yours. We'll skip the draw straws step. outdoorgirl gets the left side.
Hmmm... the date? Maybe anniversary of diagnosis - the day I divorced 'em.
Kind regards, 12/25

I agree about the boob thing and mine never being the same again. I am having a single done on June 11, sorry I can be of any help in that area right now.

I am honored by your enthusiam, both Cat & outdoorgirl. This was all meant to be, yes? The right/left thing? It's a goosebumps moment, I hear a choir in the background...
Save the date, mark your calendars: July 29th.
So, plenty of time to plan...
OK, since you two are my boobsmaids - you're in charge of "googling" for Pink Ribbon Tassels. My bet would be on Fredericks, vs. Victoria Secret.
Yes, I must be losing my mind...
Kind regards, 12/25

P.S.: I'm totally frightened by the fact that many others just might be following this thread...0 -

Susan,

First time ever while on the boards, I laughed out loud!!! Good one, gift registry. Well, let's see... hmmm... I think that'll depend on where the pink ribbon tassels come from. You know, padded bras, etc. ... I'll have to consult with the 2 & 1/2 girls on that one, I guess.
Kind regards, 12/25

If so, get in line, it would be a nice theme for the ceremony...

hair, not breasts
Since my hair did not grow back properly after chemo (thin, the result of Femara, I believe), I find myself looking at other women's hair, not their breasts, with a mixture of sadness and envy. I had a double mastectomy, but for some reason I don't care about the breasts. It's my hair that bothers me.

My expanders were removed and implants put in several months ago. My chemo brain has kicked in tonight and I can't even tell you dates right now...
Anyway, my left one is a bit smaller and harder than the right (non cancerous side). It has a little dimpling on the side, and you can tell it is just affected from scar tissue and radiation. I still have weird little pains and some tightness. Overall, I guess they are continually improving. I am a 32C but look more like a B. We had to stop the expansion due to a problem with the cancer side's skin (expander was about to poke thru).
Plastic surgeon seeing me again in August.
So.....try to be patient :-) They should improve in time, but you may have to accept that they might not look quite you expected and may feel like foreign objects attached to your chest. I was SO flatchested before, that I am just thankful to be able to wear a swimusuit now without whining about my flat chest.
Good luck with your boobies,

My surgery was lumpectomy. I cannot describe how much I respect you, and everyone here, who has endured mastectomy surgery - of any kind, including reconstruction, or not. Only my diagnosis, itself, scared me more than the surgery.
So, I cannot personally relate to what you're specifically feeling - because my experience was different. However, maybe you are mourning/grieving for your natural breasts? The way we all grieve for someone, something, anything that's lost to us forever? If you are, I think it's totally normal and to be expected. It's OK, dear, allow yourself. I'll be sincerely hoping that with healing, recovery and TIME - when you feel physically and emotionally stronger - you'll learn to accept your "new" breasts as your own. That they will become part of you; and, therefore, "real"...

Boobs!
Nahhh~ I don't look at nor care about boobs at all. I live in California , and as those from Las Vegas said, most of the boobs here are fake anyway , paid for by other boobs with fat wallets!
I am more offended by the attention paid to breasts by the general populous. As if somehow brains, compassion, and worth in general are defined by ones cleavage. My niece lost her job in a holistic healthcare store~ she too lives in Vegas and is now bar-tending. Why? As she so honestly said, "My face is cute, and my breasts are big enough to make money". And she is a single mom with 2 children to support. So fixated, no. Irritated, yes!
Yet as I say this, I am guilty of wearing a push up bra, so go figure! :-)
But if I didn't, and I had to run out of a burning building, I would probably trip over my one "good" breast!
Hugs,

It's funny, i always used to turn my nose up at women that had breasts that looked nice in clothes, or bathing suits and would snort....yeah, they bought themselves a nice pair, didn't they...but now...after reconstruction, i will be in the same boat. Seems a bit different now.0 -
When i first read the 1st
When i first read the 1st line i started laughing because i didnt know where this was going, but then after i read on i realized how true that is. I thought it was just me. Hmmmm, i was even questioning wether or not i was gay or something. Hahahahah!! No really i can relate. I hate to see women with breast because i miss my one so much and sometimes it's harder to look in the mirror. My husband is a breast man and when i lost the one it took me so long to get used to the fact the i can never give him that ever again. I often used to think he would cheat on me because i only had 1 breast. So to cut myself off before i get to carried away, the answer to your question is YES!!!

Babe
i have a recurrence in my right side, 9 years after my lumpectomy. I did think to myself
I should have had a mastectomy, but also, the other recurrences are in my bones, and to qualify for the clinical trial, they will be measuring the one in the breast. So, it's a
mixed curse/blessing, because it gives them something to know if the drug is working. Kind of like a canary in a coal mine!0
