Do any of you find yourself looking at other women's breasts? I do. In person, on the street, even on tv. I vary between jealousy, envy, to viewing them as potential lethal weapons. Anyone else?

    other womens breasts
I used to look so I could point out a nice rack to my hubby ( he is a boob man poor thing), but lately I have been looking and wondering: implants??? Never have I looked and wondered if they were a ticking time bomb, but now....hmm

Funny you should mention that. I was just at the gym and there were breasts everywhere, it seemed! They weren't all that great...

I live in Las Vegas. Cleavage is *everywhere* and most of it fake.

Too true! My brother lives in Vegas and his wife has fake ones! She denied it for years, but you don't go in to have a cyst removed and come home two sizes larger...duh!

    Honestly...
... I don't notice at all, unless they're really "hangin' out on display" - I'm sure you know what I mean! Or, just so darned LARGE and out of proportion with the woman's body - which most likely means fake, I'd guess.

    Kind regards, Susan

P.S.: I'm divorced from my OWN boobs. Although we continue to live together. But, I don't love them anymore. Because they betrayed me.

    eternally optimistic Susan?
How can you hate your boobs? you love everything and are always so positive! I am crushed (insert sad face here). Love your boobs because they have been a part of your existence your whole life, unfortunately we all carry cancer cells in our body, it just depends on what triggers them to become a problem. Don't blame the messenger. Please have some kind of ceremony and remarry the ladies!

    I am scheduled for
I am scheduled for reconstruction July 1. I have been looking at other women's breasts trying to decide what size I might want, since I will have a choice. I also look at the sites where the generous survivors have allowed their reconstructions to be viewed by the rest of us trying to decide about whether or not to have the nipples and aereola done later on. We each have our reasons, but I think being more aware of breasts (ours and others) is a common reaction that many survivors have.

That's my word on the subject...seof

You're funny, Cat! Thanks for making me smile!

I didn't say I "hate" them - just don't LOVE them anymore! I guess I divorced 'em right at diagnosis - when I told the doc to "take it, take them both"... That didn't happen, so we just "live together"... You know, it's platonic. We're still friends, I just don't trust 'em.

But - if it'll make you smile (since I'm not likin' the sad face insert), I'll consider some kind of ceremonial reunion.

    Kind regards, 12/25

    glance
I sometimes glance but what I hate is when someone asks you what type of cancer that you are being treated for and you say breast their eyes go right for your chest and can't seem to get their eyes off it. When you are going through reconstruction some people can't believe that I had a double mastectomy because I have boobs.

I know that my new ones will be about the same size as my old ones were just perkier. I can't go to much larger than the old ones because then it will change my golf swing forever.
    HAHA.

    living together without marriage?
That's a sin, and I don't know if your boobies can hold their heads up with pride under those trying circumstances.
I think a ceremony needs to be had! Can I be a bridesmaid? We can do the pasties and everything! Should be fun!

I too am having reconstruction, where are these sites to see what the tatoo/recon. nipple looks like? I'd like to scope that out too.
As to checking out other boobies, I just think yeah flaunt 'em while you got 'em girls...
I'm sure I'll have some lovely cleaveage to flaunt again someday...and I shall....

    j916, I am glad I am not
j916, I am glad I am not completely crazy. I don't think I ever noticed another woman's cleavage until I got BC. Now it seems like there are boobs hanging out everywhere. I guess it is jealousy (the one I have left is 53 years old and saggy). My husband jokes about the new "perky ones" I will have next year, but its not really a joke right now.

Also, I have banned him from watching any of those plastic surgery "reality" shows while I am around. Just can't handle watching those women who have "elective implants".

    YESSSSSSSSSSS!
I notice them all the time, I never even looked before BC. Jealousy....? Yes! I always hated mine until I lost one, then I realised that I didn't hate them at all, was just sick of wearing the T-shirt that said: "Hey My Face is Up Here^^^^^^^^^^^"

    Yes, sad but true. Usually
Yes, sad but true. Usually just on tv. And it is envy. Makes me think I should have reconstruction. I had said that if I get bc on the other side then I will have reconstruction for sure, but just with the one....I don't know if I want to go through all that one has to go through to get it. My husband doesn't care but I think the summer has made it seem that much worse with all the really neat bathing suits, t's and dresses. Then again, would I wear them anyways with my big fat butt??? Probably not.

    yes, I'm obsessed.
I never really thought that there might be others like me. My husband, daughter and best friend just laugh and tease me that I am now obsessed with boobs. For some reason I notice them all the time. I also tend to talk about my own quite a lot too. I have an implant in the BC side and have finally had my good boob lifted so I now have two boobs in the same hemisphere of my body and can even get away without wearing a bra if I want to. So I am often joking about my new young and perky boobs. They all just laugh at me. It is nice to know I am not alone in this. (I was never boob obsessed prior to BC.)

    Susan and Cat,

    OK, Cat & outdoorgirl...
I give in. As soon as the 3 of us (or, should I say 2 & 1/2? lumpectomy - get it?) set a date, I'll start a thread. You can both be a bridesmaid (boobsmaid?), one for each. You'll have to draw straws for the one that's only a 1/2 (which is the right one).

I must be losing my mind...

    Kind regards, 12/25
