For some reason, today has been a day of tears. I feel lucky/blessed in my journey, but I am really struggling today with the feeling that this is truly a war we are fighting. We have lost people we admire and love and we are all still fighting as hard as we can. I had my port flushed on Thursday and ended up in tears because of all of the people who are struggling right now. So, I'm focusing on what a beautiful day today is and what a gift it is to be here. The sky is so beautiful today! Please share with me one thing that makes YOU happy today! Thanks--I want to imagine all of my family/friends here on the board today with a smile. I need to remember that we can be happy in the middle of this.

    Happy is....
Feeling the sunshine on your shoulders after a LONG minnesota winter on chemo! Also, having my daughter come home to live with me again after not seeing her for nearly 2 years.

Last Thursday when I got the chemo pack unattached for the last time, was a VERY happy moment, however to look around at the others, some who have become friends, did make me sad. This is a hard battle we are all fighting, but we can do it!

Knowing that you've finished your chemo! I'm so happy that you're done with your treatments.

Feeling the breeze on my face.

I was in the hospital so much for awhile, that all I could think of was how marvelous it would be to feel the breeze on my face...to this day, 3 years later, I think of that every time I feel a breeze...

    Great post!!

    Hugs, Kathi

    my kids are laughing
Today is both happy and sad. My dad is in the hospital battling lung cancer and is septic with acute renal failure, but on a happier note, my son is in the back yard with a group of the neighborhood kids playing baseball and laughing....loudly! It is so good to hear him being happy and enjoying life and not having to worry that his mom is (was) sick with cancer. He has his youth back as he deserves. My lilac ree is in full bloom and smells awesome! Life is coming back with the signs of spring (we won't talk about the tulips the deer ate)

    Happiness is..."The Look"
Many things make me happy today.

I'm delighted for you that you are healing.

I'm happy because my husband is healing from his three-year ordeal.

I'm happy because the sun is shining and my garden is blooming.

Happiness also comes in a small package today. It makes me happy when this small five-pounder gives me what we call "the look." For her, there are no equivocations: she is safe and wanted (she was rejected by her first family because her teeth weren't perfect for a show dog...go figure!), her family should be happy and healthy and life is good. She's right, of course, life is good.

    - having a picture perfect long weekend with gorgeous weather, even though the forecast was for rain the whole weekend.

    - is knowing I'm one of the real lucky ones to not have to worry about whether I can afford whatever treatments I may or may not need

    - is, call it denial, or whatever, but feeling "normal" and not having to put off doing things I enjoy because I'm sick. I don't feel sick, therefore , I'm not sick.

    - is having the most adorable, little diva miniature schnauzer reminding me that life is all about her, not about me

    - is seeing this adorable picture of Hatshepsut's little 5 lb bundle of yorkie diva!! Truly a precious picture!! :)

My husband, children and grandchildren. When I see them smiling, it makes me smile. The beautiful flowers that are just now starting to bloom. We just bought are vegetable plants today and that always makes me happy. Love my veggies. Kim

    Happy!
Thanks for the great posts! My son stopped by from college and I got to cook him dinner--big smiles! My younger son, who is graduating from high school, called from his part-time job and asked if I would bring him dinner, too, so I got to cook dinner for both my sons tonight. Believe it or not, that happens so seldom that it made my day!

I start my new job tomorrow, full-time, and am stressing because I already have multiple deadlines to meet, so you guys have given me lots to smile about to start the week with. Above all, happiness is the special people I've gotten to know through this board. I hope you all have a week full of smiles!

    Hi Rebecca
Went to see the new Star Trek movie today, couldn't get anyone else to go so got off my but and went by myself. Glad I did, it had several good laughs for an old Trekkie like me. And got out in the flower bed a little bit today too, finally got a break from all the rain been having here, a cool but lovely day.

    Happiness is leaving my
Happiness is leaving my cancer survivors' dinner last Tuesday and receiving the news that my new granddaughter had just entered the world. What a blessing to be here to see her!

Happiness is my 2 young grandsons. I take care of them daily and have so many special moments with them and my precious daughter and her husband.

Happiness is my son driving straight from clinical work at a hospital, also after a long day of classwork to become a radiation therapist, to be with me at Relay for Life. Couldn't express how much I love that boy.

Happiness is a husband who is everything to me.

    Life is good, isn't it?

    *hugs*

Great idea for a post. It is wonderful reading about what brings you all joy and happiness. We had a spectacular day yesterday on our little boat. We brought my mom out (she is here for 3 weeks to help us) and she and **** swam with sea turtles 3/4 mile off shore. The sun was shining, the sky a vivid blue and you could see 50 feet down in the water. Happiness is seeing my family enjoying the beauty of Hawaii.

    Pure Bliss
Hearing the words "No evidence of disease" in my last biopsy. It took 2 1/2 years to hear it but I have finally heard those incredible words!!! The sun feels warmer, the sky brighter and the days shorter! I agree--thanks Rebecca for starting this thread.

True happiness can be illusive. Moments of joy add up to happiness. Small moments can mean everything: hearing a childs laughter, watchiing someone you love smile, hearing from a friend, dinner out with people you love, laughting at a stupid joke. I've also found that getting good news is great, but giving good news to people that love you is pure joy. Savor small moments of joy and happiness isn't far behind.
