I missed the part where she ended up going to Germany for treatments and why. That seems like that would be hard traveling that many miles for treatment. And WHY did they not give that woman a port. All the needles were through her veins. If Germany was so much better, I thought they would have done a port. Just my two cents! Very humbling story.

UCLA wouldn't do the surgery on her primary tumor due to radiation/tissue damage and Germany would and Germany would do chemo specifically designed for her and her cancer. Yeah, I wondered about the port issue too. But they had to put the needles directly into her liver at some pointas part of her treatment.

I got the feeling that she thought she'd be over and done with it in no time so why get a port. A port means (to some) that this is going to be a long battle. I think some people feel that way. I never thought twice about getting a port, for me and my Dx it was a no brainer.0 -
Questions
It was a wonderful, but saddening, presentation of our battle...
and I am glad Farrah filmed it and hope millions saw it and
it makes them put screening on the top of their list of things
to do....
did have some questions.....and wondered if the outcome would
have been different with different decisions at points.....
my take, altho I may have mis-heard was that she opted not
to have a colostomy and went to Germany instead where they
were willing to do surgery in the area....also I thought I
heard that her options for chemo were somewhat guided by
her choice not to have chemo that would cause her to lose
her hair...her option for not having a port....because she
did not want scarring????....just wondering.

The exact same things!!! I will always wonder how much vanity has played a part in her journey. The movie was great for education and cleaning out my tear ducts, it was very real. Someone needs to punch that son of hers for getting arrested for drugs when he did. She doesn't need that stress.
I'm with you Phil about the port and think my scars are all part of having to fight the beast. I won't say I'm proud of them but I'm certainly not ashamed of them.

Yes I was wondering why she wouldn't take the chemo because her hair might fall out. It all fell out at one point but I think that if that decision was made earlier in her treatment instead of the hair issue, she might have faired better, but who knows. And the port would make it easier.
