It's a boy!

Hey everyone

Just thought I'd pop on and given an update.

We had an ultrasound yesterday (between chemo weeks - yay!) and found out we are having a boy! We are SOOOOO excited!! We woulda loved a little girl, but for some reason we were both hoping for a little boy :)

My husband made the switch from folfox to folfiri and is doing much better. No more hives, he can actually get fluids down, no vomiting all night, etc. He gets tired and doesn't feel good, but its doable.

In fact, he's been to china between treatments, been to all my appts for the baby, and is in Wisconsin right now for work - this man doesn't let anything stop him! I can't explain how much I love and admire him... and I hope our son takes on many of his traits (minus the cancer please)

Pregnancy during his chemo - its an interesting ride... not one that I'd recommend to others, but something I'll never EVER regret. He should finish August 25th and we are still on track to deliver a happy healthy little boy on October 10th.

Thanks for all of your support. It's helped more than you'll ever know.

Laura

    THANKS EVERYONE!!
Johnnybegood - sorry you are still having such a rough ride. My husband could have never finished 12 rounds of folfox. It just wasn't meant to be. He couldnt keep fluids down and that wss enough for the DR to make the switch. I am very impressed that you (and others) keep on pushing through!

Emily - it's good to hear from you! We've been given the green light to juice during treatments, although on the actual days he gets the infusions he doesn't feel like it! I don't blame him. He's been taking supplements and between treatments feels really good. We talked about going your route, but in the end - he just didn't feel disciplined enough to go all the way! He has definitely changed his eating habits and maybe in the long run, he'll live a longer healthier life because of all this! Sorry we were never able to connect, but I appreciate your support and insights SOOO much!

Colon2 (and Emily) - we do have a name. It's Aven Marcus. Aven is pronounced like Aiden, but with V - just for kicks :) Marcus is my husbands middle name so we thought it would be fun for them to share middle names.

Buzzard, Vicki, Kim, Jen, Phil - THANK YOU!! I appreciate that you are thinkin of us and all your well wishes for our little boy.

    Ultrasound
I hope you had a wonderful caring sonographer do your ultrasound. I have been a sonographer at a major women's hospital for over 22 years and I am still amazed when I put the transducer down and see that little miracle of life. It doesn't get any better than that. Wishing you a wonderful pregnancy and birth.
