I read the reports about her, too. I remember just thinking she was so pretty when Charlie's Angels started. It sounds like she's had a very tough fight. I really hope she will be okay.

I remember that poster well....
My first fight with my then boyfriend was started when he hung that on the underside of the bunk bed, he being on the bottom, in his dorm room!!!

I had a strange dream...may suck it up and call FOX television and pitch it...a talk show called 'HOPE lives!'....guest stars will be all of us survivors...even the famous ones...

Then...
They will have only a limited supply of Avastin, CPT11, xeloda and other stuff on the island and we have to stay alive and then get the professor to make more of it from coconuts. Once he does, Gilligan spills it and the skipper hits Gilligan with his hat. Or something like that

I personally liked Kate Jackson the best on Charlies Angels but became a big Farrah fan after she did the TV movie when there were not near the number of channels to watch, "The Burning Bed". My partner at the time did some volunteer work at a shelter for battered women and the number of calls they got the few weeks after that blew the small place away. They even had me answering some of the calls to get call back numbers they were so hammered. BUT the coolest thing was funding and donations were half of the calls!!!!! They opened up 2 more homes a few months later because of the movie's impact. Cool stuff.

I read today that she is stable but it does make you wonder why a judge allowed her son to leave jail to visit her recently. I hope the news reports are right but I have to say again she is OUT THERE helping our cause by admitting she has anal cancer!!! I am a rectal cancer survivor for 5 years now and still don't say that most of the time, I say colorectal cancer for some reason. My prayers and thoughts are with you Farrah!!

Farah's Story on tonight
Farah's story about her fight with cancer is on tonight on the east coast on NBC at 9 pm. I think it would be good for friends, spouses and others to watch it so they can get a better idea of what we face to some extend. Unfortunately, she's not doing well at all. I think all of us are in better shape than she is but it may be an eye opener for some people. Then again, it might scare the crap out of others so use your judgment.

I had an appointment to get my hair cut today and while the lady was shampooing my hair, she started talking about watching the show tonight. She said that it would be really sad, but would make the rest of us glad that we weren't the ones who were so sick. Well, I got my hair washed, but it may take a couple of days for my lip to heal from where I was biting it to keep from a)crying, or b) explaining that some of the rest of us have been that sick. Instead we talked about how gorgeous she was and how everyone wanted to be her when they were young. People are really amazing sometimes. I'm sure her comment wasn't meant to sound the way it did, but people really are clueless sometimes.

Hope your lip is healing
I know what you mean about biting our lips...We all do it at somepoint but now I just speak up and say what I feel...I want to watch the show tonight but I really don't want to cry and be depressed...Not sure what to do??? Julie

Proud of us
Watching Farrah's Story tonight made me very proud to be a part of this community of survivors. Yeah, I cried. A lot. She allowed it to be so doggone real and having lived both sides of it, for me, was a doubly whammy. Watching my sister struggle and be so brave only to succumb in the end came full force to my memory while watching Farrah. It was like having PTSD. Then my own experiences with scans and PETs and tests and doctor appointments and surgeries....it's still raw after 7.9 years. I thank God, though, that my "treatments" were more like going to a spa than what one has to go through during chemo. You all are brave mambojambos.

I was a bit skeptical about watching, but hubby and I turned it on. I am glad I did. I cried all the way through. The one thing I took away from it was her HONESTY. She had one line to her friend Alana, when Alana wanted to stop filming while she was vomiting. She said, "I want people to see what cancer IS. Keep filming." That stuck with me.

I had a similar experience after a chemo treatment last month. My daughter took me to the cancer center, and her 4 year old had to be with us that day. I threw up all the way home. I kept apologizing, worried about Carter seeing me. My daughter said "Mom, you have cancer. He knows that. It won't hurt him to understand what you are going through." Of course the 4 year old, in his complete lack of guile at that age, put it all in perspective. He said "Gamma, please don't get Mom's car all dirty!"

Cancer sucks, and I think Farrah did a great service bringing the images forward. She will always be in my thoughts and prayers.

My children were very young when my sister was going through her cancer journey and I never shielded them either when she was moaning or crying or looking like a bag of bones. This was a part of the facts of life for our family. I figured my children would learn compassion by witnessing human suffering. I think your daughter is kind and wise. And your grandson is adorable!
