Welcome to the site we wish didnt have to exist but grateful that it is here. It is unfortunate but quite common to be diagnosed at late stage. I was persistant with my docs and still diagnosed way to late. They just don't get it and unfortunately know about as much about the signs and symptoms as we did. Although the past year or so awareness of ovarian cancer is out there more and more.

I ALSO JUST FOUND THIS SITE IN MARCH 2009, EVEN THO I WAS DIAGNOSED IN AUGUST 2006 WITH STAGE 4 OVCA. THIS SITE IS SO GREAT AND IT HAS HELPED ME SO MUCH. THE WOMEN ON THIS SITE ARE SO GREAT.

Hi Terri,
In 2007 I was diagnosed with an advanced case of OVCA, 4b with lymph node mets. by the time I had surgery.

My internist kept telling me that my 4 classic OVCA symptoms were side affects of a drug I was on for arthritis. My cancer was discovered, 6 months later during a routine GYN appointment and the mass was discovered.

Sorry you've had to join us, but welcome and please keep in touch, support is so important as you know.

Are you on chemo now, I'm on Topotecan after carbo/taxol only gave me a 3-4 month remission, and I've been on Topo for 10 months.

Welcome to this site that none of us wanted to need, but here we are. I am Stage 3C, originally diagnosed with constipation regardless of my insistence that I was quite regular.
I am especially glad you found this site. I am trying to stop fuming over an incidence with a co-worker who has recently been diagnosed with uterine/endometrial cancer. She has bent over backwards to avoid me, and i understand that she simply hasn't truly passed that denial stage. That part I am okay with. What has me fuming is that her close friends told me that they are very happy she hasn't tried the uterine cancer site (which i told her about in an email), because they "wouldn't want that much information." I was too red-hot angry to respond - time to clamp the mouth shut. Anyway, I don't know what I would do without this site. There simply is no better support group than people who have been through what you are going through. All of the Teal Warriors here are AWESOME! You don't ever have to put on the brave, happy face here. Please keep us updated about your treatment. Love and lots of teal hugs, Carol

I am absolutely incredulous, Carol, that your friend and co-workers want less, not more information! Everyone deals with these things in their own way and at least you have given your friend access to what I beleive is the best site of its type on the internet in the event she decides she needs to educate herself about her type of cancer.

Welcome! I was exceptionally fortunate that my Stage 1C cancer was discovered in the course of a hysterectomy done to relieve the symptoms of fibroid tumors. I could have easily delayed the surgery and, although in retrospect I was displaying symptoms of OVCA, those symptoms could have easily be attributed to the fibroids, my IBS, or impending menopause. Quite honestly, being more proactive might or might not have lead to an earlier diagnosis for you.

What is fortunate for both of us is that we have found this site. There is a wealth of information and you can read older posts or just type in key words at the top of the page on topics you want to explore. It has been invaluable to me as I have begun my chemotherapy and allowed me to ask questions and discuss concerns with my oncologist that I wouldn't have known or thought about proactively otherwise.
