Hi Paul,
I was recently diagnosed with this cancer. I was operated on before they new what it was. My tumor was rare and was located within my heart and diaphram. They do think they got it all and I'm now doing chemo and radiation. How old is your mom and how is her general health besides the cancer?

Dad has Mesothelioma toocharlesbkey said:My father is 77 and has 4th stage plural mesothelioma he just did his second chemo last wed....any ideas on other alternatives or resources...trying to save time on the learning curve....I really appreciate any help you can give me
My Dad has Meso as well, he is 86. He had his first treatment on Friday 6/12. So far he is doing OK - no nausea, good appetite but is SO tired. His legs swelled on Saturday and had to go to the doctor for meds. I would recommend you look at some of the meso websites and MD Anderson (Houston TX) to get more info. Did your Dad get a 2nd Opinion? MD Anderson is where my Dad went - however - there were no alternatives for him other than Chemo. My Dad had the tumors removed in March and had the Talc Procedure done. If you haven't already, I would recommend that you find an attorney that might represent your father and help determine where he may have been exposed to the asbestos.0 -
Treatment Centers for Mesojaybe said:I am getting ready to begin Chemo I was diagnosed with Mesothelioma and just had surgery 2 weeks ago to get rid of my reoccurring left lung plureal enfusion, It is great to take the weight off, I carried over 3 litters. This is hard for me with it being so rare, I have no one to talk to that can relate to what I am going through.I have a son that is 4. I am scared of choosing the wrong treatment plan and losing time with him. Chemo or surgery???
My Dad has Meso and is 86. My daughter works for the Mayo Hospital and has been a very valuable resource. We checked out several clinics that specialize in Meso - MD Anderson in Houston TX, Mayo Hospital in rochester MN or Phoenix AZ, Cancer Center or America in Phoenix AZ. I know there is also a place in Maryland - never checked them out. There is a ton of info on the Internet. Get an attorney to work on your case. Determine where you came in contact with asbestos and who manufactured the products that contained asbestos.0
