What a blessing to have found you all. I am also a newcomer. My surgery was about 3 weeks ago. What great advice I have already found here, you all are wonderful.
I can affirm the information on taking it easy was so correct. I tore my internal incision by being too active too soon. So PLEASE take it easy..
I have a question I am hoping someone can help with, I was doing OK with the BM part of things until I tore my incision. Now I am having very minimal BM's and I have developed a new pain on my lower left side where I guess my actual surgery was. I had lower left resection. The new pain I am having is mostly when I urinate. Anybody else experienced this?
Of course this started on the weekend... I will call doctor tomorrow.
thanks in advance for all your help and support.

    Incision
Have you spoken with your Dr or surgeon in regards to the incision tear? The pain when urinating could be a bladder infection. I had serve pain on Halloween (08) and it ended up being a bladder infection.

    Hi Shabow
Glad to meet you, sorry it had to be here! I had a very low resection Feb 4.

Bladder infections can be serious, if that is what you have. Talk to your doctor right away. After my surgery, I could not have a BM for about 8 days. The surgeon finally OK'd meds to unblock me..he was worried the meds would be too strong and the internal stitches would be compromised. I was on the phone with his office every day, and they expected me to be. They want to help you, so call and ask.

Good luck on your journey! Vicki

    thank you
thanks to you both for your responses, I am waiting for a call back from my doctor's office. Of course these things happen on the weekends, just like the house, must be a plumbing thing. (pun intended) :)
I don't have fever or anything, and am trying some good suggestions I found here at the forum to relieve the constipation until I hear from Dr.
Want to thank everyone for all the support and encouragement you give.

    Hi, I'm an Oldbie
I too had trouble with a hernia but tearing my abdominal wall after one of my surgeries. It looks worse than it is but it's hard to just sit there for me.
I hope you'll find this board helpful, it is most all of the time but us cancer folk can get cranky at times :-) I can only speak for myself, so I will say that I find others here to be cranky at times.
As others, and you said, get it checked out. I have not had personal experience with this.
Just curious, I didn't see on you about page any info about you. Did they recently find the cancer then operate and you will/may do chemo or did they find it, then start chemo to shrink the tumor before they operated?
    Good luck, keep up posted.

    It's oldie but goodie....lol!
    Welcome to the family, shabow!

Yes, check with your surgeon first...might be just an adhesion...

Obstructions (of which I've had 9) are VERY painful...and come and go...

    Hugs, Kathi

Welcome to the forum. Sorry you had to find us but we are a great bunch of caring people. Sorry I can't address your specific issue but after surgery and still a little now I have discomfort urinating. They did put me on cipro even after my bladder tests came up clear but it took away the discharge and pressure/pain some. Hope you find an answer soon.
