rashes...are these something you experienced??? (post 2nd chemo update)

Hi again,

My mom got done with her 2nd chemo last monday...as expected she was down for a good 3-4 days, bounced back incredibly around thursday night and now, she feels as if nothing happened...all good news and I really hope her reactions with chemo stay manageable..so far, severe headache, high blood pressure, and some abdominal cramp...we asked and doc states they are all effects of Avastion / 5FU...anyways, its sunday, i noticed my mom's arms are kinda rashy cuz i saw her scratching somewhat, so i was wondering, chemo does have effects such as dryness of skin and rash right?? And also, the 3 to 5 days of recovery is amazing since I also hear this from alot of your comments, it feels like a constant time and day (normally the bounce back period starts RIGHT AFTER the 5FU pump gets returned, i guess its the combination of not have the drugs into ur bloodstream AND the fact that mentally you feel better since the pump isnt latching on to you your every move...just an observation i had as a non-patient...again i hope thic continues, 2 out of 4 down til PET scans/MRI to see if its working (cross fingers)

    I did not take Avastin, but after reading about this drug, it can cause a rash which is considered a rare side effect according to ACS website. Both drugs, Avastin and 5FU can cause the headaches.

    I would talk with the Dr about the rash

    I had a rash -- connected with oxaliplatin. But it happened right after treatment, and was dramatic (in fact, had to go to the hospital once, because it was considered a moderate allergic reaction). Chemo can cause dryness of skin (sometimes extreme). I'm hoping it is 'just' that. But, my philosophy is when in any doubt, check it out with your doctor. I'd certainly mention during next visit.
