Bladder spasms.
I had my round with bladder spasms, and mine came and went until the catheter was removed. They were more painful than anything else with the surgery. My doctor prescribed a drug called HYOMAX, 0.125mg, that you disolve under the tounge. Withen 10 to 15 minutes, the spasms were gone. Have him ask his doctor if this might be an option for him. They worked great for me. Good luck to the both of you.0 -
spasms
these are terrible. i had them for up to 4 weeks after surgery. took percocet to help relieve the pain and ended up in the emergency room at least once because i was unsure as to what was happening. The catheter seems to be the main culprit, but i had that out at the two week point. The spasms can strike without warning. Have a strong pain medicine handy when they occur.
also--make sure the catheter tube isnt folded over/blocked near the top of the sack. if it is, that stops the urine flowing into the bag and can cause spasm like pain.
you may well continue to have some spasms for a week or two after catheter removal. hang in there. how did your surgery go otherwise?0 -

My neighbor seems to be doing fine. The drug prescribed seems to be taking care of his spasms. I'll check on him tonight.0
