San Antonio
Beth,
I live outside Fort Worth and am treated by oncologists in the Texas Oncology group. Texas Oncology has practices throughout the state, but the closest group I could find near San Antonio was about 70 miles away. You can google them and learn more about their practices and their locations. You could also call MD Anderson, which is located in Houston, to find out who they recommend in the San Antonio area. I think having MD Anderson closer would also be a great resource as they are considered the #1 cancer center in the U.S.
Good luck if you decide to interview. I love San Antonio, especially the Riverwalk. Let me know if you move to Texas!

Cancer Center in San Antonio
I live in San Antonio and can give you some information. We are blessed to have many excellent oncologists here. The University of Texas has a medical school here and lots of doctors train here, fall in love with the city, and stay here to practice. It's also a huge medical center for the armed forces, so a lot of doctors go into private practice here after their military obligation is completed.
I rarely post but my husband and I have received great information from this site and all the wonderful cancer patients who do post. My husband was diagnosed in April of last year stage IIIC and is now stage IV. His doctor is Scott Ulmer who practices at South Texas Hemotology and Oncology. If you go to stoh.com, you can learn about this great group of caring doctors. We could not ask for a better oncologist. Dr. Ulmer is excellent. I know his is just one of many good practices in the city. Don't hesitate to come here if getting good care is your only concern.
Good luck, whatever you decide to do!

I visited San Antonio once on a business trip. Loved it. I am hoping to get the job, but alot of people in my line of work know I have or had the cancer, so even though thats not supposed to way in on hiring we all know it does. I just hope my rep will stand out above the cancer. Only time will tell. Thanks for the Info and if I end up in Texas, will let ya know.
God Bless

I live down by the coast, League City, Kemah, San Leon, Texas area. There is a major medical area in downtown Houston...A main MD Anderson cancer hospital...the've even branched out to the Nassau Bay area and have had an MD Anderson cancer clinic...the're so busy they are expanding right now! These are top notch medical center as well as the people that provide the care. If you need any information, I'll get it for you. I don't know about all cancer hospitals, but MD Anderson is top notch and they care for everybody with high standards.0 -

Thanks Jen,
Is Houston far from San Antonio? I have already decided this cancer thing is about over for me, I am not going to let it return, so I probably wont need it, but best to have the info just incase. I will look up MD Anderson.
Again thank you

I too hate the heat. I moved here from Vancouver, Washington, and this was a culture shock. I dont understand how people choose to live here. I was transfered due to my job, I didnt pick this place. I dont have the job yet, it will take about a month before i hear if I was picked. WHen working for the Federal government its a hurry up and wait type of game it does with everything.
Are you doing okay, Michelle? I know there is still alot of hurt, but are you OK? I worry about you and pray that God will ease your pain and help you during this very hard time. Did ANgel ride a Harley? My dad is giving me a Kawasaki 1000, its an older Police bike, and I cant wait to get it here. Its in Mississippi where he lives. Was thinking about just driving down there to get it. But havent felt well enough lately to make the drive. I will always think of Angel when I ride. I have a smaller bike now that I ride for fun when I am feeling up to it. Do you have your own bike? Maybe someday we could go riding together.
